A good friend of mine is a good friend of theirs (iron maiden) so we are off to manchester tomorrow, to spend the afternoon with them, and of course we are invited as vip's to the manchester gig then to party afterwards and stay at the hotel with them........... I'm a bit excited !

I'm a massive fan, my all time fav band in the world.
Seen them live many times but never met any of them.
Their lead singer, Bruce Dickinson is actually an airline pilot when he is not touring!

we've been doing this maiden meet up every now and then since 1989, so i know them quite well and my office is adorned with maiden memorabilia, but it's still very exciting. i made a video and put it on you tubea few years ago showing loads of pics of us together.

Judging by the flight 666 film I do not think it will be an all night booze session :D
I assume they will be much more relaxed in the UK as the logistics are so much simpler however.

I would like to have a few whiskeys with Adrian and talk about guitars.
Interesting he was playing Stevie Ray Vaughn in the film to warm up, he is quite bluesy rather than traditional rock.

Might bring my strat along and try and get them to sign it, but I doubt that would ever happen??

You need to go to a good festical - best one I've ever been to is Primavera in Barcelona. Great music, nice weather, cheap food and drink, lovely atmosphere and crowd, goes on all night and is only ten minutes from city centre where accomodation is cheap! I missed it this year but am waiting for tickets to be released for 2012! In 2010 I saw marc almond, pet shop boys, florence, pixies, orbital, pavement, the xx, wilco, gary numan, beach house, the fall, wild beasts and more

I need to go to at least two concerts and festivals.
Including everything from pub gigs to festivals, my count is somewhere in the thousands. For the bulk of the 80s I went to beween 2 & 5 gigs a week.

i have been to small gigs etc. but nothing really big.

I think Spain is a good bet.
We are off to Spain next week and its fiesta season so will see whats about. I have always wanted to see Estopa.

Maybe some Mago de oz :p I saw them in a small village week long party in Torralba before they made it big.

I'd recommend the IOW Festival Toby - no need to camp if you didn't fancy it, we usually stay on a couple of houseboats about 2-3 miles down the road from the site. Or there are quiet posh tents already rigged up for you for the camping experience without the hassle.

While the stuff that utilises the fiddle & whistle is different & really quite good, the rest of their output is standard Trad Metal & pretty much all I hate about Heavy Metal.

Their covers of Gimmie gimmie gimmie & Girls just wanna have fun have to be heard to see just how bad they are.

I can see them going down well at Wacken though.

Some of it is pretty crap but the spanish love it. they do allot of talking in the gigs and many tracks are very slow. It was top ten a few years ago and always being promoted in the shops. i suppose its a bit different from Salsa and reggaeton. :) Same thing has happened in south america and India judging by flight 666.

the Aussie warm up was a bit annoying though. The track in the video was the only one I really liked. annoying voice I think - very monotone.
