Through FTP I have deleted the home page of one of our sites .htm and dragged over a replacement .htm file.

Strangely the deleted file has disappeared from the FTP FILE and the new .htm file when opened on the server shows up fine.

However when you go to the site through the usual route of a browser the original deleted file keeps showing instead of the replaced file.

Could this be the host providers system not updating due to a fault?

Not happened before ;)

Any advice--other than phoning the provider of course.

Thanks

Could be your computer is still remembering the old file. Clear the cache/temporary internet folders and try again.

That's my thoughts, too. I think one of the F keys in Explorer forced a webpage refresh but I'm not sure which one. F5 rings a bell for some reason???

F5 does a refresh but I think this is more of a cache/cookies issue.

Definitely sounds like a cache issue, either yours or your ISP's (most like yours).

F5 does a refresh. CTRL-F5 forces a refresh.

There are various options available if you don't want your pages cached, or only for a limited time. See http://www.mnot.net/cache_docs/.
