After a meeting with a B&G for a wedding at the end of the month , I popped round to pick up the request list , I was to be there at 6:45 exactly  .
This turned out to be the time his wife to be was out , I was handed a playlist , with strict instructions NO CHEESE .fine I thought , then I looked at the playlist.
here is a sample..
Whigfield-Saturday night
Village people - In the navy
village people - YMCA
Macarena
Time Warp
it goes on and on.
I can see why he has kept this from his wife to be , could be a very interesting wedding :D :D

I have been told that for the wedding I'm doing tonight (see 'table songs' thread) they don't want the traditional wedding songs, just plenty of R&B ! will make a change actually, I like playing the songs that everyone do silly dances to (like the student parties saturday night, macarena, Danza Kurodo Ketchup song etc) but it's also nice to have a 'normal' party !

I was told no cheese tonight by the bride, "No real cheesy music please, e.g. Macarina, Saturday night, right on time etc!!! "
Later on requests Timewrap.....

I cant see any problem with that
There must be a million other tracks not classed as cheese?
I always make a point of saying that they have requested no cheese, and check with them throughout the night.
dexstar is right though they normally are the ones selecting YMCA.
Ithink thats them saying to you "I do not want alan partridge at my wedding please"

This is why when someone mentions an disliking for cheese I ask them to state the exact songs they mean.
That said I class the timewrap with black lace and the birdie song in the "marmite cheese section" so you can't win sometimes.

I think it's abundantly clear that Punters can't classify or define Cheese accurately, even if we believe we can.
If it's on the list I'll play it, if it's banned, so be it.

+1
I had a gig a while ago where the client specifically asked for "lots of cheese" - I asked for specifics and was told "oh, just the usual" :daft:
I can't recall the exact track I played, but it was certainly 'cheesy' - Not so in the clients mind, to which she kicked up a fuss in the middle of a busy dancefloor shouting at me to turn it off...clearly no regard for the rest of her guests around her. Still, "the customer is always right".....right?
