View Full Version : How difficult can it be to buy two lottery tickets, and a can of shaving gel?

Came home tonight, and while having my shower and shave, ran out of shaving gel. Since going to work unshaven, and without a collar and tie is not an option ( Hang on, a Gloucester Old Spot has just crashed into the chimney pot! :D :D :D ).

So, since I wanted Lottery tickets as well, I hopped into the car, and perused my options:

Turn right for the Village, or Tesco in the next town after that. .
Turn left for Co-op/Offie in next town, or Tesco/Morrisons in the largest town nearby.

Left won, cos the roads are easiest, and I wanted to check out the Offie's low alcohol range. Arrive at offie, who also sell Lottery tickets- Offie closed!
Go to Co-op: Co-op closed! Grrrr.

Head along to next town, Fire brigade are pumping out a flooded housing estate. Arrive at Tesco- Tesco flooded! Cross the road to other branch of Offie- Offie flooded! ( can anyone see a pattern developing here? )

In despair, I enter Morrisons, who are still trading. Despite water coming through the ceiling in places. :D :D

Did I say it rained a little here today? ;)

Should've stayed home, gone un-shaven for a day and played the lotto online!

Did you ask if they had any flood damaged lottery tickets you could purchase at half price?

We were sitting watching TV at 8:50.... at 8:54 slight flick of the lights.
8:55 - plunged into total darkness as was the whole of the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft areas and also part of Norwich.

Couldnt have happened at a worse time as there was an evenig race meeting at Great Yarmouth racecourse and with it also being a wednesday in the school holiday, there was supposed to be a firework display at 10pm with Heart FM doing a roadshow for about 90 minute before that.

Stood outside talking to the neighbours in what remained of daylight then it started to spit.... then it chucked it down.

Darkness and gridlock as everyone headed home. We got in the car and decided to drive towards electricity, took a 15 mile journey to find any signs of life then we went into McDonalds for a while.

Power is all back on now.

I've just switched my reservation for a Tent pitch for this coming weekend to something more suitable... i.e. less likely to float away in the night :D
