Has been brought to my attention, clearly they have seen my site however I have the awful feeling they have changed just enough to mean I can't really do anything about it.
My site is www.deckstardeluxe.co.uk
Thanks for your time.

Saw this on FB mate and i've got a feeling you are correct that it has been changed just enough,
OR
I am not saying it is but is it a template that is available ?
But same as what has been mentioned on similar threads id tend not to worry to much on what they are doing etc if they have to copy yours then at least that says that yours is good enough for someone to try and replicate :)

It's not ;)
A dig into the source code and it's clear that the site has been 're-created' so it's imitation rather than theft. I'd take a very close look at the wording and images though.

Didn't think it would be with being one of your creations mate :D

I saw this the other day and thought it was another VV design?

And that is my issue, people will think we are the same brand or even the same people! Reading is only an hour away.
Having looked at their text they aren't a company I wish to be associated with either.

I honestly can't see any major similarity (at a push there's some really generic things that most sites have anyway). Certainly not enough to think you were a related company.
Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places though - could you point out your main areas of concern.

Well it slaps me right in the face as soon as I open it up :D

Try other pages, eg:

It did me too. Very obvious.

Nope, sorry, can't see anything of concern apart from some generic style similarities, which a lot of sites have in common anyway, (there's only so many ways you can arrange a page etc.)
Not seeing any obviously copied text - logo isn't similar.
OK - slightly different shades of silver have been used for the backgrounds and contact details are both on top right, but am I missing else something really really obvious?

IMHO it uses a lot of similar elements, and the overall design is similar, so they are either both "inspired" by the same thing(s) or one is "inspired" by the other.
As Martin says it's not a direct rip-off, one validates and one doesn't, for a start!

Is it really a threat to your business??? - To be honest I havent even looked at the sites. But from reading the thread the alleged copy site business are in Berkshire and you are based in Gloucestershire??? AND there's no direct copying - just similarities??
Do you guys really spend a vast amount of time trawling other "disco" sites and mailing one another as a pricing exercise? Makes me laugh.
I cant be assed to do either :)

Looks like there's a few similarities, but I think that could easily be coincidence. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it ;)

Then why both posting if you can't even be bothered to look at the sites?

OK, at first glance they both look quite different.
Have you found this site by running copyscape or something? Im lost.

I've looked at the two sites and seriously...I can't see any problems whatsoever. There are bound to be similiarities allover the web and to ask if someone is copying your site....well.
I will have to agree with Mike too, you are in Cheltenham and this lot are based in Reading. By the looks of some of the stuff on their site, it looks like they are worlds apart from what you're doing.

The site was mentioned to me last night and while I don't personally use copyscape or spend any time looking at other peoples websites (unless I'm in the design stage of one of my sites) I am still unsure how I feel about it myself.
Fair enough if you don't see them as being similar but to me they look too alike to be a coincidence

Reading is an hour away so well within my area of coverage, had this been in Scotland or somewhere further away then chances are I wouldn't of even posted this thread.

You really have nothing to worry about.
Unless I include the Cheltenham area in my proactive marketing, which I wont - Because it's TOO FAR AWAY to be in my coverage area :)
N.B Reading is 14 miles away from me.

Do they say that they cover Cheltenham?
Do you say you cover Reading?
I don't think the sites are that similar but then I don't design them do I?

How can people not tell the difference!?
I honestly thought it was a VV design. I saw the website being advertised on Google ads via the forum. I then looked on VV's recent portfolio and it wasn't there so presumed he hadn't uploaded it yet.
Someone has picked ideas from your site without a doubt.

A number of you have had sites designed by VV and very nice they are too BUT you will see the similiarities more clearer than the rest of us.

Question the distinct similarities between the two websites.
Certain wordings, the scrolling images along the bottom, the header layout, the dotted outline of div's, layout and function of the gallery page...etc
Too many similarities for it to be just 'coincidence'

So you'd be claiming copyright on making images scroll and dotted lines, among other things?
The scrolling images: http://www.gmarwaha.com/jquery/jcarousellite/
The only person who can claim any sort of copyright on this effect is the author of that jQuery plugin, and he has made it available free to use, which both sites have done.
As for the dotted outlines...that's ridiculous! And, they're both implemented differently (one with dotted images, the other with css border properties).
Yes, they are similar. But I honestly don't think you'd get anywhere with any complaint to anybody.
