Seems like an interesting concept, but I don't know if I'm keen on the idea of removing the personal, face to face contact that you get from a real client meeting.

Also, it just seems like Skype to me...

What are your thoughts?

I like the idea, but the pricing is a bit steep: $60 a month for the mid-range package!

If the cost was lower, I'd be tempted to give it a trial, at least.

£25 a month for the basic doesn't seem to bad, what would you expect it to be?

I'm thinking if there is any loss in connection, slow speeds so everything is slow, sound quality cant be that brilliant,

Sorry just looking at the downside as i dont really think i could sit at home/office Mcdonalds and chat to my clients like that, not to discuss the biggest day in there lives :eek:

I think it definitely has it's uses. A meeting is not always possible due to various reasons, this could fix that.

Why are you making the assumption it has bad sound and video quality? :confused: That depends on the hardware, not the software.

And who said anything about sitting in McDonalds? :confused:

I like the idea you could meet with the Bride, The Dance floor supplier, The band and the Caterers all at the same time to discuss plans for example. This would be near impossible to organise in real life.

I think it needs developing but definitely a good idea.

But Skype is free if you connect Skype to Skype.
I have to say that I am a big fan of Skype.
I am surprised that there are not more DJs using it.It is so much easier to talk via video than on a chatline,especially if you have a problem and need advice or guidance.

Going on from what Cowlinn has just said I believe Skype have now introduced a feature wherby you can talk to more than one person at a time on a split screen

Yes it seems a ok idea but as mentioned Skype have introduced and similar thing but again it all relys on the power of the net and stability etc

IE: There on dialup or prepain mobile net and it runs out or line drops etc what do you do then, ring them like you would do normally or arrange to meet everyone at a suitable time/date etc

The wedding i did recently was a hard one as her parents were from america, toastmaster was from wales, photgrapher was from cornwall and she wanted us to meet together :eek: so we just looked int he diary and met at a suitable date (apart from the parents as we spoke to them via phone and on the day)

Either way (ie whatever package), it's a useful tool, not an essential (yet). When you compare that to the likes of other 'tools' that we DJs use (DJI, DJEP, eWebmin...Heck even Royal Mail Smartstamp), then this is more expensive than all of them, but I certainly wouldn't put it higher up the chain of 'requirements' - especially since you do not know how it will be received, or whether clients would take to it or not.

The other thing, I wish they hadn't called it 'bridelive': it could be useful for all sorts of events - not just for weddings, but I'd feel a bit of a numpty pointing other clients to 'bridelive'

Good Point! Although it does say that with the top package, you get custom skins with your own logos etc. - This suggests that the BrideLive brand is removed and it becomes your own - Although I'm not 100% sure.

It does seem a tad over-priced!

Maybe it's something the larger venues will invest in, and then allow clients to use it to host meetings with all their suppliers... rather than each individual supplier having this service :confused:

I know what you mean! It takes many emails before venues round here understand that uplighting takes extra time to setup!

But it may be easier to sit in one virtual meeting and decide everything, rather than numerous emails back and forth.

Without wishing to seem like a Luddite, this seems utterly pointless. I don't need to see someone to talk on the telephone with them; and I've never needed to have a conference call for a disco (I can appreciate that in some circumstances this may be desirable, but not for the fees mentioned here. Actually, don't BT offer a conference call facility?). Having coped so far with face to face meetings, telephone calls, letters and email, I wonder why I (or anyone else) would ever need this?

Just to re-visit this and the price they are charging, I thought I'd do a little bit of research whilst watching telly tonight - just to see what general video conferencing facilities were like and what they charged (after all, there doesn't seem to be much about Bridelive that makes it different to any other such system - other than their targeted audience)

Well, the first one I've looked at properly appears to do more or less everything that Bridelive does, and the cost? Free for a two-party system, or the premium which allows up to 8 connections is $4.95pm or $45.95py (ie approx £3.0pm / £30py)... To put it another way - this system charges less per year than bridelive charges per month!

What am I missing? Why is one so expensive and one so cheap?
