Cans v Bars

Before we start I will apologise without reservation for starting another thread on uplighting. I will hang my head in shame for the next 6 months :)

However I am about to expand my uplighting offerings after many enquiries for uplighting hire.

I was about to order a load of Pulse cans from CPC but had a thought about using bars instead (package I am looking at is this http://www.djanddiscostuff.com/prodpage.asp?prodid=3531.

The main advantage for me about the Bars is space, especially for transporting - I could easily carry bars for uplighting en-route to a gig for example. However I am unsure about the spread of light with a bar (probably not much use for highlighting room features).

Does anyone have any experience or views about the bars or cans for uplighting use ??

i use both chris i have 1m and half meter bars and a shed load of pulse cans.
also have some of the kam led par kits.got some cans with 10mm led's in which i like and they also work with the mega bars,so you can control them with the mega bar remote.

bars are good and easy to carry,not much good for narrow columns and not as easy to hide as a can.
it's horses for courses they all come in handy.

if i was buying cans again for uplighting i would go for something with tri coloured led's in.

Its the narrow columns which is playing on my mind a bit tbh. I have a load of cans so will probably start by buying a couple of bars to give it a go. If nowt else they can be used to uplight behind me :)

I've been thinking about getting some bars as well.
Is there a cheaper alternative to the suggested American DJ Mega Bar ones?

My main worry with the bars is that they are that bit more easily trodden on, at least with a can, they tend to get kicked and knocked over rather than stood on and broke.
