Was wondering if any of the North East djs on here could recommend any good agencies.
I'm looking at keeping all my options open after a pretty dire last 2 months. June was my best month ever. In fact the first 6 months of the year were much better than I expected. September onwards isn't looking too bad, but looking to fill the diary up a bit more.
I know a few non North East djs use agencies on here as well. I know about the pro's and cons of agencies. But if I can fill some gaps in the diary that would be better than nothing at all.
I was approached by Mantra agency in January asking me if I'd be prepared to cover some weddings for them this summer, but I've heard nixie from them since.
So any good ones out there? National or local.
Thanks in advance good people

Think I know the reason for that which will be a major stumbling block with a lot of local agencies - will ring you later.

I dont work with any agencies, but do work with a couple of bands, and done a few wedding fayres at the start of the year. Also have regular work at a few independantly owned function suites in the area making me fully booked for all of this year into next.
The only problem i find with some agents ( although theirs not many in Newcastle) is the percentge they take off of each booking which can range from 15% up to 30%.

Well if you would be so kind as to pass said info my way, I'd appreciate it. I find myself in a similar position to Steve with regard to Mantra.

Why not--15 per cent of not a lot is errr--not a lot.
I guess 30 per cent is quite common.
My wifes Barn Dance Agency charges a flat fee of £100--otherwise its not worth getting out of bed for all the time wasting :daft: on the net.

You could try an agency called Manhatten Heights. He gave me a ring about a good number of bookings for last Christmas but, unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to accept. He did say the pay was a little less than we may get normally (I think it was about £140) but he was talking about 20+ shows.
Other than that, other agencies in the north east include Mark Goodwin (if he's still around - can't find him online), A.I.R. (artistes internation representation ltd), Beverley Agency not far away from me (although I'm not sure if they do discos/DJs). And there's always the Alive Network online to try.
Oh, and there was West End but, again, I can't find them online at the moment???

I work for Banwell now and again, but prob not enough money for you Steve...
The only reason I take work that cheap is that I don't get it to the Monday before and would rather work then do nothing, espically as the mother-in-law likes watching Big Brother.
