It is only 11.40am but this morning i have had notification of 2 cancellations. One via a letter in the post and the other via email. One was a wedding and the other a retiral party.

They are both giving me notice before my cancellation terms & conditions, states that they will have to pay me.Its a bummer but hopefully i can pick up other bookings to replace them.

and hows that gonna help ? presuming his terms are if cancelled within 30 days of the event full payment is required.

Its not gonna stop people cancelling

Its just the sign of the times at the moment.

Ive had over 30 cancellations this year at least I got the booking fee - most of the events were cancelled and 9 were because they decided to go with 60.00 sid.

I am on my worst year ever - but next year is already starting to look better - but I am not betting on it as if economic conditions worsen, probally 2012 will be much teh same as this year.

All we can do is cut back, provide the best service we can and hope its enough to see us thru these hard times

You're right you can't stop people cancelling but you can protect yourself better by having a staggered fees system in place.

For example my cancellation fees start at 191 days ( approx 6mths) -121 days where it's 50%. 120 days - 90 days is 75% then 90days or less will be 100%.

I'm actually looking at increasing the time of the 50% cancellation fee.

That's how it would help ;)
