That's a strobe mounted behind (Wildzap 1500).
The one near the bottom is for fazer to blow smoke through.

Good point! It's actually just a wrap around screen to protect 2 banks of spots.

The surround is fine, but using spotbanks in this day and age? A couple of led pars or bars would surely be safer and give you better colours.

And the hole just looks silly to me.

Go to admit i'm not feeling it myself. I actually prefer it without the frontbox as it looks like garden planters ..

Some LED lighting would work better and the punters could use the hatch to pass though requests :D

LED strip lighting is what you want to be looking at using instead of those horrible spot banks that have such bad S2L circuits that they flash so quick they give me headaches. Lose the middle hole, punters will be putting in 50p coins and waiting for the coke can to fall out. Does a strobe light need to be that far down ?

The spot banks aren't those horrid fast flashing ones, they go through a controller so I can have a slow colour change, sound to light, fast chase and hard or soft colour change and it also makes them dimmable. All together more flexible than led.
The strobe is suspended under the shelf where the kit goes and I love the way it works by creating silhoettes of the dancers as you look towards the dancefloor from the punters view if you know what I mean. I don't like strobes up high blinding everyone. In fact I don't put any lights up on stands or anything except the lasers.
The hole at the bottom can't really be seen from the front unless you're quite close as the kick guard obscures it and having the haze coming out centrally like that is perfect for feeding my other lighting nice and evenly.

How exactly does that make them more flexible than led? You can do all the above with leds with any controller and leds last longer, don't get hot and are safer for the general public. The colours are better too IMO.

Not for me either, I'm afraid, but you are clearly happy with it and that's the main thing. It is certainly different to any others out there.

Do you have any pictures of it from a distance? - ie how it looks to the guests across the dance floor. It might look very different in situ, so to speak.

I've just been browsing the gallery section on your website - and do you really put your speakers and lights on the floor at every gig??

I've got to be honest, the lights pointing up thing actually looks quite effective, but is really an accident waiting to happen when you have drunk punters with pint in hand (especially when they're on top of your speakers which are ideal table height). But, putting speakers on the floor?? This is my personal pet hate! Have you ever walked around the room when the dance floor is full and heard how people dancing in front of the speakers affect the sound once you get beyond the first row?

My bad, they look identical to the S2L ones I once had.

I do think though that you should be looking at some low voltage led strips. I assume those spot banks are 240v ? Wont be long before someone spills a drink over them while asking for a request, especially with them being at low level.

As Darren has said, LEDs are much more flexible and they look more professional.

Yep. I think it works really well because you can have it nice and loud on the dancefloor without deafening everyone else!
