My new "booth" mk1

I don't know if anyone else has done this, apologies if they have, but I think I might have invented a new concept in DJ booths. This is the prototype, used for the first time on Thursday, and apart from a few minor stability problems (rotation) which I will address in mk2 it worked really well. The table fits directly into the top of the sub, it's so quick and easy to put together and, well, let me know your thoughts.

No, but I see what you mean, I think the angle and the flash have made the table look very narrow. I found it pretty comfortable (and I was standing behind it for 8½ hours)

Only problem is I'd have to but a sub ! Looks a bit messy to me though and I'd be wary of putting gear that close to a big magnet :omg:

Yes, it was my first time DMX-ing my lights and the up-lighters and I ran out of setup time so "behind the scenes" was a bit thrown together. There is absolutely no problem with the magnet though, flash drives and hard drives are unaffected by relatively low powered magnets such as the ones in speakers.

Is the hole bang in the centre of the sub ? If it is, try turning the sub 90 degrees. Bass is undirectional anyway so wont make a difference with it facing another direction. This way the sub connections will be more protected.

Not sure i'd be happy with the bass travelling up the pole and into the table my gear was sat on.

All I can say is I noticed no ill effects what so ever, there was no vibration at table level.

I think it would take slightly longer than 8 hours to get white finger from a vibrating table ;)

Its the vibration you can't feel that would worry me, can't do electronics much good, Its gotta be bad enough normally without actually attaching your sub to it.

I wouldn't take the risk

Am I right in thinking that the starcloth front is held up on a few bits of wire attached to the table (it's hard to see in the photos?)

How does it hold up to drunk punters, small children, etc etc?

It's on 6mm bar. Fairly strong but not ideal (this is the Mk1 :) ), I'm on the lookout for an alternative that's not too heavy. Didn't have any prob's with the punters.

B&Q do a range of varnished steel in square and round sections with various diameters (20mm up from memory) with push fit connectors for making corners. It's actually quite cheap as well.

Sorry - I forgot! We've got 4 b&q's in Bristol, the nearest being 1.5 miles away and right next door to Wickes, Homebase and Buildbase!
