Bose L1 or L2 Systems - Does anyone have these?

Hi there - I am looking at the possibility of getting a pair of these... but before I do, what are people thoughts...??

Does anyone own / use these in their DJ Setup...

What are your opions ???

Are they loud enough, punchy enough, powerful enough for a large hall with large audience.

The reason behind this is that I want to replace my Wharfedale XP15's with some smaller lighter and better quality sounds...

Any alternative suggestions...?

"A tall column speaker in Cash Converters" Is probably very different to a Bose L1...

I use Bose L1 model 1 and 2 B1's. It depends on what gigs you are planning on using them on, but for me, primarily weddings - love it, clients love it and venues love it.

Sounds nice and clear too.

My advise would be to borrow one or hire one.

If you do alot of 18 or 21st's then I'd stick with what you have. The Bose is great for nice clear sound. It was never designed for earthquaking bass. The B1's add to a full sound.

I'll never part with mine.

I like the look of them but remain unconvinced on the sound for disco use. I've heard them on about half a dozen occasions and in different places, but am still unsure..

I'm also not convinced about the whole "Venues and clients love them" comments. I have never had a client tell me they love any part of my gear.

I've had a handful of comments in the past 18 months of having the S&H booth, but since using the Bose, every gig so far at least 1 person has commented on them.

I did a gig at a very nice golf club Thursday and the manager was obsessed with it :)

Good for me coz I've got a meeting with him in the week for more work!!

Obviously its not just Bose that instantly makes you better, its presentation also. But a nice neat system like the L1 does help alot.

And, no, not to be taken out of context - people do comment on the look of them and get the very smart - and i've got Bose comments whilst eyeing then up LOL.

Re the ongoing discussion between Andy and Darren, the main reason that I was drawn to them was indeed the appearance, and I rather think they look very smart in conjunction with a DSB or S&H booth. And I do alsolike the fact they take a smaller amount of space, but my concern was indeed power and output. Hopefully I will get to see some in action or better still hire some.

Andy - what's the largest crowd you have played to with your set up and how many bass units do you have with it.

I use just the one, would like two but finances dictate otherwise.

I have used one in a marquee with 180 - 200 in. It was fine, people at the far end of the marquee could also clearly hear the music.

I did hire one in earlier this year for about 300 people in the Verwood hub. It sounded absolutely brilliant and really made me want a second. All I can say is what most other Bose users say in that I have had far more compliments since using Bose than I ever did with Cerwin Vegas or Mackie 450's.

I have heard em and they are utter crap IMO. They just seemed really hollow. They guy was using two B1 and a L1 and the Bose mixer thing. Better speakers for the same money IMO.

So what would you recommend???

I need, small, light, easy to carry and manover, quick to set up pack and something that looks "special", as well as sounding great!

What would you reccomend - I havn't seen anything else that really fits into these requirements, unless a satalite system such as HK, but then you need subs as well............., and I don't think this looks amazing!

Of course that it the idea behind the Bose Systems, but does this not mean that a number of people will "swallow" the some sound up leaving the people sitting down to enjoy it at a quiter level? Also because of the design it would mean that the volume doesn't have to be so loud in the first place???

Bose give a fantastic throw to your music with great clarity. It doesn't mean everybody gets flooded with sound at all. I've done many many gigs where the sound is banging out onto the dance floor but people can sit just 8 -10 feet away chatting away merrily. The design of them allows the music to travel further.

I had a quick peek at your website (very nice BTW), and some of your gallery seems to have the traditional speakers cabs... is this from your "pre bose" days or do you still them on occasions, and what kind of gigs do you use them for???

I have only had the Bose for 3 weeks, so I havn't been able to replace all the photos! (I have the model 1)

I use the bose for all my gigs, I primarily work at weddings and corporate events. I've now sold the Mackies!! :)

Hi, I would be interested to know how much, but please don't go out of your way :D - I am slightly dubious about buying from Cash Converters :daft:
