Do you have any problems with the screens falling off the bass bins with vibrations?

I would suggest that you put some spot boxes, or hang some black cloth in the gaps between the speakers & the centre screen The leads on your cross bar are easy to tidy with velcro or reuseable cable ties (as I'm sure Darren will say shortly), but you do need to hide the tangle visible on both sides of that screen. Or of course you could just close the gaps.

Just a minor niggle otherwise it looks better than a hell of a lot of rigs I've seen (& a few I've used too)

as for the gaps normally either run some olf fals (but didnt get them repaired in time as they got damaged at last gig or cloth (which i forgot)....

As for the wireing I am slowely sorting that out. But as this was the first time the rig was out like that, was a learning curve.

the first rig cost me 500.00 of ebay all 2nd hand - this pic was taken at its last gig as i blew the speakers :( my first expensive lesson......

About the only things left are the box lights, all the top lights (except the cheavets in teh middle now on ebay (have replaced them with NDJ datamoons) the goalpost and the box the mixer n amp sit in

She does have a peaking problem which slowely have managed to move upto nearly flat out now - and probally not worth the expence to totally eradicate.

it all started a few years ago with aprivate party with some friends. it was dress up as a pirate night - if u didnt forfeit was to buy round of drinks for every one - at this tsage it was just the hat.

A friend of mine (who owns a leather workshop) saw some pics and said u need a parrott. a few weeks later and polly arrived complete with bondage gear.

Ever since then when i aprty or rally use the hat n parrott, an dwhen i started djing it just seemed natural to stick the hat n parrot on the rig.

Not realy i always pride myself on a rig after all its what your clients see, And from various surveys with customers it comes in high the appearence of your setup and yourself

Yeah, and have sticky residue on all your cables, poles, truss etc etc...

That being the very reason why I no longer use tape, apart from a bit of gaffa on the floor on ocassion.

I have got the most expensive gaffa and yes there is a big difference, but you still get residue on certain things.

I get mine for around 50p/roll from screw fix :teeth: I've had no problem with residue with their tape.

Providing you don't get the tape too warm you should be ok :)

I don't get many compliments about sound or lighting effects, but I do get a lot of comments about how neat and clean the set up looks. I had an operations director from a Hotel I do alot telling me about a DJ who was there just using a table with no cloth or anything in front and how awful it looked.

I do agree about entertaining being the most important bit and you use whatever you are comfortable with and can afford, but for certain places, there is a standard.

And yes, I do think that taping cables and making it as neat as possible is very important, personally.

if i was to accept bookings in hotels and posh corperate doos them most of my lighting would not be suitable as its used and abused. But as i dont accept them type of bookings * I pass them onto other djs I know that are more suited to there needs).

in fact most of my gigs are in muddy fields with the rig on uneven bits of wood or just a ground sheet. so just to get things reasonably level is an acheivement.

I have to admit Creature, when I first saw a picture I did kind of think the same thing - it looked messy, and I did mention this to Corabar Steve, and he told me the kind of gigs that you do, and that the gear was suitable.

With the benefit of hindsight, I understand the kind of thing you do and realise why your gear is set like it is! :beer:

I personally use the roll of self stich velcro hook on one side loop on other so it stics to itself. Its about 10 metres long in black and you can trim it to length for whatever you want. I tie all my leads up with it and when im set up i use it tie the cables neatly to the stands / truss etc. If anyones interested i buy it from homebase its about £5.99 for 10 metres. I find it lasts a lot longer than the ready made velcro ties because its a bit heavier duty than the other ties.

I believe that both Daz and Ricesnaps' opinions are equally as important.

The client does care about the appearance of your equipment but, equally, also cares about the entertainment you provide. Given them both and I think you are a long way to having a high standard show.

Ok, look I wasn't saying that you should go out with an untidy looking show (although maybe it read like that), but time and time again there are post on here saying that there gear is better than the other or that this show shouldn't go out like that.

All I really meant (and I stand by this) is that the public / client / guests will not give a flying &^(& whether you have a row of Vasto's or a row of Martin moving heads. Seriously, they won't. Not knocking anyone for wanting a great looking light show, but don't pretent you think it's because your clients won't book you if you don't have. They won't book you if you can't entertain!

And those velcro bits on Ebay look good, I'm a stick back hooks and loops man myself - works a treat, but a little more expensive.

Personally I can take constructive critism, Everything i have attained in the 3 years i have been playing - has been gleened from other DJ's.


time and time again there gear is better than the other or that this show shouldn't go out like that personally I hate people who say this - and too my knowledge is a symptom i have never displayed about someone elses rig.

I have been at rallys/partys were people have stated that the dj is crap (even happened to me a few times) and people pester me to take over. I always refuse and I certainly wouldnt dream of going upto the dj and telling him were hes probally going wrong - i wouldnt know how to.....


I know people who've seen Creature & his rig in action & the rig is more than capable for the job & Creature doe put on a good show. thats always nice to know as the only positive feedback i get is when im rebooked or pick up new bookings whilst im gigging ....

Personally i believe with apassion that we are all different and what we do and how we do it is our own way, the fact that we may have pinched this or that idea and incorperated into our show is insedentle. I know without doubt that if i was to accept 99.9% of bookings that most djs on here accept I would fall flat on my face and embarrass myself. If other peopl ewish to rip apart what others try to achieve or obtin that is there privilage, I just hope that when it happens to them they can take the heat.

One day hopefully all djs' or people like me who just love to try and entertain will stick together and the backbiting/infighting will cease.
