Just got back from seeing David Walliams swim past my house- I don't know why but actually seeing it really makes you appreciate what he is doing, if you'll pardon the pun.
I was freezing and I was standing in a beer garden with a pint in my hand- hate to think what it's like in the water.

He's doing really well. Not something I could do, yes I can swim but that far for that long :eek:

Heard him on Radio 1 today and he still sounded upbeat but as he said the worst is to come. there's no way I'd swim in the Thames anywhere passed about Kingston / Hampton Court ish as from there on it gets shall we say "Unpleasant"

The total when he was on the radio about lunchtime was £695k so plenty of money being raised.

Up to £850k earlier but suspect he'll get well past that.
He arrives at Teddington lock tonight and after there it becomes tidal which will be interesting.

Yep, massive respect to him, it will be a great achievement if he pulls it off. Even more so considering he hasn't been well, and he's ignored advice against swimming through a section contaminated with tonnes of raw sewage :eek:

It's refreshing to see celebrities giving something back instead of rolling around in limos going to parties and spending obscene amounts of money on nothing.

You won't miss it and it makes what he has done worth while. I agree about the fact that this guy is wealthy and famous - he didn't need to do this for anything other than the cause itself. My only dissappointment with it is that not all the money is spent in the UK helping people here - but some of it is.

Yes it's a fantastic thing that he is doing he should get the recognition for it.
Here's a few pics I took when he swam through my back yard , well just down the road anyway, I think it was day four he had just swum under Reading bridge and was swimming into Caversham lock, then on the boat which broke down on the way back to the hotel about 7pm.

He's already swam the Channel, and cycled from John O' Groats to Lands End for good causes.
