I have put together a package for one of my clients for theming the room and doing the lighting etc for a Halloween party, and have most of what I want and require sorted, but thought I'd throw it open for any decent ideas I might have forgotten.
Over to you...

II found low lying fog, greens, reds and oranges work well....thinking about that plasma laser thingy for this year too....

I'd opt for the low lying fog, too (the kind that uses ice cubes with the fog fluid works well). I first tried this at a kids halloween party a few years ago and it worked really well. Especially the effect we got when the kids were ducking for apples and the fog was lingering over the floor and the big water container. It was a really eerie looking effect!
By the way, Daz, what's with the new avatar? We're not used to seeing you looking all "business-like" recently!! :D

:agree: I used to set colorbursts and par's on orange green and red :)
Also Steve the QTX Plasma laser are awesome for any event :)

Thanks guys, most of what you have mentioned have been included.
That QTX plasma laser looks fantastic...
Anyone got one for hire? I'm not sure I can justify buying one!

I think Pe7e has one still as I've borrowed it off him before. The one thing I will say though is the room needs to be really, really dark for it to work properly.

Would it work if there was uplighting do you think?

Personally think it'll be too bright for it to look its best. I'll try and find some video of when I had it.
Here you go. It's bottom centre of the truss. You get quite a bit purpley green haze type effect but the "black hole" type effect wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Bit of dmx work and you could do it all. Black out sections with only the laser etc etc.

I'm trying not to get into DMX as I am host, DJ, decorator etc and that would take me even longer to do!
I'll get someone to go round and switch them off! :D
Like Paul has said, I've got one of the QTX plasma lasers, It's a good effect but not suitable for all venues. You need a darkened venue, and to show it at its best, a light coloured wall behind you, or a light coloured celing to project the effect onto, it doesn't really work pointing at the dancefloor, unless it's empty
Phase One has produced a decent video/review of it which you can find HERE

I can't see anything apart from the purple haze?
It looks completely different in Phase One's video!

Indeed!
In the phase one video they've got a white ceiling and white walls. It needs to project onto something to get the best effect otherwise you'll just get what i did the purple Haze.
Glad I borrowed it and didn't buy one on the strength of the phase 1 video.
