Looking back to when you first started in this business. What do you wish you had discovered or implimented sooner?. What changes in your thinking or business structure were a pivotal turning point in your busines and success?.

This could be an interesting topic for new dj's.

making sure my prices were sorted before i advertised...i gave a quote to a woman way before i joined the site...£140 for a 6 hour wedding (i thought best to compete with all the locally priced DJ's) i never heard from her for 3 months, and during that time i realised i should be charging bigger money etc...she came back to me and decided to take me up on my quote - i felt I couldn't change it...even though i have just taken a booking for a wedding the week before her's and am charging £450...

Wish I had started off with PCDJ it's so much better than CDs . I have heard it said it's cheating but you have to put a lot of work into it as well.

My god - have to agree with you - but I wished I'd have had PCDJ all those years ago when starting out - it's got to be the best part of my setup and worth its weight in gold - instant requests, quick music changes, etc - all possible rather than scrabbling around 4 cases of CDs and then having to wait for the disk to read, etc.

I can't speak for Angela, but in my opinion we could've done with a web site & ultimax stands sooner.

Agree with Darren's post on the forums. From looking back on, i would change the way that we marketed out business, like go on to Yell.com a bit earlier as i think that we missed the boat on that one :(

IMO, this forum has provided me with so much information its untrue! Its good for other professionals to share each other's experiences as we can adapt them and take them on board :)

So really a big thank you to you guys as this forum is absolutely fantastic! As people say, you never stop learning...no matter how old you are :beer:
