What's been your worst purchase!

Maybe it's been a form of advertising? or a product that you wish you had never bought?. What's been your biggest waste of money with regards to your business?

When I did discos, my biggest waste of money was a £500 laser. I had it for a year and a half and used it twice.

Me too. £560 to be exact. I ended up selling the laser for half the price just to get rid of it.

Mines probably got to be 2 aqua dots from maplin, good idea being LED and all and looked great in a pitch black room. But how often to we ever get a pitch black room. Gotta agree on the lasers as well lot of money for something you cant use very often.

A JB Systems Dual CD Player about 16 years ago, I did not have the money for the the original Denon MK11 (still have this unit, it still works, bought a year later) back then. This player used to take 30 seconds to find a track, and jumped if you breathed on it. But it was my first dual CD player

Advertising on Yell.com

I forgot how much my dad paid for the ad, but we have only received a handful enquiries, with only two successful bookings

So it is fair to say that we will plough more money into the book based advertising next year, as we decided to downgrade our ad to make the transition over to the internet.

But possibly the fact that we don't have a website may be one result of why we havent received many enquiries!

YELL.COM? Phoned me today--I said the feedback from here (MDA) suggests my money would be wasted

They did say their charges are coming down though--not enough I said :teeth:

I had a similar discussion with a representative of theirs. He screamed down the phone at me telling me I was losing business because I refused listen to him. Ummm, ok > (phone) CLICK

Prolight wind up stands come to mind.....

Had mine for almost 2 years now and they still work.. ok, so one has lost a handle and the brake is broken.. but still they've had their money's worth over and over!

I bought 4 source Jazzes when they went into liquidation as i got a good deal at the time. Two broke in less than a month...

Oh.. also spent about £200 building my last console case only to go back to using the first cd/mixer case i ever bought after a few months.

If I got to give it away, I might as well keep the **** thing!
