Im not sure whats happening with BPM now. If ill be there or not now ill find out for definite within the next week.

I might be going to Blackpool for a weekend away that weekend because we cant go any other weekends in October due to gigs been booked in.

The weekend of BPM is the only weekend the family have available.

So now BPM is now dependant on whether or not we end up going to Blackpool or not or we go earlier or after october.

I am now, unfortunately, out of the night out...I've accepted a booking for the Sunday night, which means I'm working the night before and after my run, but hey...the money always helps.

I'll look to head up to Birmingham on the monday, and see all your ashen tired faces wandering round the NEC! :D

You might be blessed with my appearance after all.

Still waiting for my cruise date so because it isn't set in stone, I might ask for a January slot. Do my Xmas residency and then go when it's quiet and miserable here. I'm not holding my breath though, it'll be a case of sods law.

Normally they're all sent out en masse nearer the time, I believe. John ( Twinspin ) being a technically minded type of young fella doesn't receive physical tickets through the post, he prints off some email or something, and when he produces it at the counter, they let us in.

to be honest finance's however im very surprised to see travelodge still have rooms 1.7 miles away from the nec although knowing my luck there is about 20 miles of motorway in the way (still not finished learning to drive so will have to rely on bus train or taxi)
but it may be an option.

If you approach the MDD contingent in the MDD Official Meeting Point ( cunningly disguised as a bar ) and tap them on the shoulder with your rolled up newspaper, proclaiming in stentorian tones " You are Lobby Lud*, and I claim my five pounds", I'm sure that in order to avoid parting with money, they'll be happy to taxi you back to the hotel we're using, the Sheldon Travelodge.

* For anyone who doesn't know, Twinspin and I were overtaken by various laughing MDD members on the way back from BPM to the hotel last year. When they took a different exit on the roundabout, John asked if I knew a shortcut. Neither I. nor Jane my Sat Nav did, but the others were simply playing follow-my-leader, and arived at the Maypole long after we did. :p:D:D

Corabar Entertainment
20-09-2012, 05:47 PM
Actually, Mr Fisher, we weren't playing follow my leader. I just made a teensy-weensy miscalculation reading the sat nav map / counting the number of exits we'd past, and left the roundabout 1 exit too early.

We all fell about laughing when we got to the first opportunity to turn around and saw Andy and his car load waiting to re-join traffic just in front of us because he'd done exactly the same thing!

Just to add to the confusion over meeting, I have been reliably informed that there are TWO BARS in this year's BPM!

However, one in on the arena-side, and one is on the side where all the stands are... which I believe is the one on the left as you approach the back of the hall, and the one I would suggest would be the best option for us to meet in.

One? One? If I get another batch of transfers, I shall be able to make up an assortment of them. ;) There's a few ideas I have "liberated" from commercially available ones, one of which I find particularly apposite, and one I feel I may have to purchase ready made, unless a certain Scottish gentleman can perform his magic on it.

.

Two? Two? An embarrassment of riches, no less. Angela, to avoid confusion, may I humbly suggest that to ensure that our members find the correct watering hole, you could create an MDD sign along the design of the one we are all by now familiar with. This one should bear the legend: " Not this one!!!! "

Dance Classics in the Chauvet arena .....I'm there what a line up :D

The highly popular Dance Classics Party will return to BPM in 2012 for its third year, this time hosted by DJ equipment brand Vestax. This showcase of the best retro dance anthems from the 90s and early 00s will be held in the CHAUVET BPM ARENA from 5pm until 8pm on Sunday the 7th of October and is open to all BPM visitors.

There’s one DJ whose name is synonymous with classic dance music, and that is Dave Pearce. Once described by Heat magazine as "The People's DJ", he's worked tirelessly to share his passion for dance music with as many people as possible. He devised, created and presented one of BBC Radio 1's most popular radio shows ‘Dance Anthems’, has sold over 1 million compilation albums, presented shows on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, not to mention playing all over the world at every major club and festival. This year’s Dance Classics Party promises to be the best yet with Dave behind the decks!

Singer, musician and DJ Sonique enjoyed huge success in the late 90s and early 00s with dance hits including ‘I Put a Spell on You’, ‘Sky’ and ‘It Feels So Good’, which topped the UK singles chart in 1998. Famed for captivating performances and incredible vocals, don’t miss Sonique performing live at BPM 2012.

DJ Woody's 'Big Phat 90's' AV show is a nostalgic chronological musical ride through some of the decade’s dopest moments, taking in the likes of De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Naughty By Nature, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Fugees, Dr Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg and much more. DJ Woody reworks the classics with his unique blend of custom graphics, video sound bites and renowned turntable technique to rock the 'slamminest' 90's house party since Kid n Play raised the roof.

Originally hailing from the Hardcore and Bouncy Techno scene back in the mid-90s, Ian Redman has since been on the DJ circuit for over a decade. He is one of the true pioneers of ‘Scouse House’ and was also one of the original members of chart-topping dance act ‘Ultrabeat’. Currently Ian can be found headlining 'BCM Planet Dance' in Magaluf and also touring worldwide with The BCM Reunion, Anthem Mania, Ultimate Afterparty and The Big Reunion.

Mike Lewis aka DJ Kuta has been a DJ since 1984 and is still going strong. He was a member of iconic dance act ‘N-Trance’ at the time of their seminal release ‘Set You Free’ and has enjoyed continued success in his own right. Recently Mike has been busy with sets at Clubland in Ibiza as well as BCM in Magaluf, Futures in Kavos and Tramps in Tenerife to name but a few. This is on top of an already busy schedule in the UK, which has seen him belting the tunes out at hundreds of clubs and festivals. He is a versatile DJ who's not afraid to get on the mic and get the crowd jumping whilst regularly mixing things up with Vestax.

Alternatively, if you don't mind sharing, if there's anyone at the Sheldon who's booked a single and wouldn't mind changing that to a twin (It's the same rooms!), it would make it easy as we're likely to be giving Jason a lift up to BPM.

I contacted Travelodge earlier to see if i could get a twin room instead of a double room. As they were displaying one was available. But they are saying there isnt when you try to book.

these airbeds are really good if you want a comfortable bed to sleep on. I bought one for camping. Well worth £40.00. Great to stick in a room for an extra bed. Im doing a roomshare with Shaun. So taking one of them to put up. They have a inflator/deflator built in the airbed and can be put up or deflated in around 2 minutes.

£3.99 for unlimited breakfast? Yes please!!!!!!!!!

Sadly dear boy, you missed the rider. Two quid for the Tea or Coffee* to wash it down. Two quid!! Extortionate.

* Only jesting, the cups are magic, they're never empty. So, six quid for an all you can eat breakfast, with ad lib Tea or Coffee. Bang goes the diet for another month then!

hi Guys and girls... the wonderer returns ;)

Finally got my act into gear and sorted out where i'm staying at BPM :sofa: and sheldon was all booked up but just 1.1miles down the road is Yardley Travelodge - It's only £64.50 for check in on Saturday 6th and checkout on Monday 8th and as an added bonus you have to drive past the toby cavery to get to the NEC... SOOOO will have to pop in to have my breakfast on the way...

For anyone still looking for a room for the night or weekend and wants to be close to the sheldon one where everyone else is here's the link http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/111/Birmingham-Yardley-hotel

ha ha ohhhh but what other goodies have we got that you can buy instead :D

I can bring an overhead kit if you want me too - we have plenty of brackets in at the moment but i think we only have one set of side poles and overhead bars which we were going to use on the stand for display but sure we can come to an agreement :p

Bit of bad news from me... Still going to BPM, but am now DJ'ing on Sunday night. I really tried to resist as I look forward to getting drunk...er...I mean being sociable with you guys and girls, but the opportunity is too good to pass up.

Therefore, I have a double room at the Sheldon Travelodge going begging, which cost me £30...any offers? ;)

Good man there. I'm sure your native guide will keep you right. ( As long as you don't go into any strange pubs in the wee wee hours of Monday morning, and start chatting to burly Scandinavians. :D:D )

John, wll done for the comprehensive list, but I fear you have forgotten our tame Yellowbelly plus one. Tony -Penfold and his new enamorata. Look forward to seeing them both.

Finally, a heartfelt plea. If you visit BPM on the Sunday, please please visit the bar and say hello to the Usual Suspects. You won't have to buy them a drink, you won't have alcohol forced on you against your beliefs, but you will be able to say hello to some of the reprobates who hang around there, and it's always really great and often informative to put names to faces, and get an insight into people. See you there.

OK.... well, as usual, we'll be taking the signs to BPM tomorrow and set up camp in the bar so that anyone who hasn't met us before can recognise us and pop over and say hello.

HOWEVER, I have been informed that there are TWO bars this year (different area of the NEC to last year), and I believe we want the one on the LEFT (as you look towards the back). But, if you don't find us in one, you'll find us in the other!

Not a hope of us being there for opening time, but we'll be there as soon as we can. As an added precaution, make sure you've got a phone number or two. Anyone who wants to take my number down, so that you at least have someone's number - it's 07578122981

...and for those of you who don't know what the signs look like, look for one or other or both of these:-

There you go again, applying logic to the whole episode. I do so hope that this doesn't lead to many of our brethren trekking from dispenser of alcoholic beverages to dispenser of alcoholic beverages in a despondent attempt to find our merry band, and feeling obliged to partake of the demon drink "just to be sociable".

...and for those of you who don't know what the signs look like, look for one or other or both of these:-
And a few folk having a "frank exchange of views" as to whether we can blu tack them to the walls, the windows or anything that stays stationary long enough, erect an elf and safety trip hazard of a purpose built stand to display them, or if all else fails, project them on the ceiling, like a sort of Bat-Signal. :D
