Your Favourite Lighting effect

Ok heres one for all of us. In the past have you had a disco light you have thought the bee's nees doggs danglies etc.

No matter how hard you try you could not fault this light on anything looks performance you name it.

My personal favourite amongst all the lights I have had has to be my 2 tecnotronics Thunder lighting effects. So small you can fit 2 of them in one standard flight case. So bright they put modern 250watt lights to shame. And still working 12 years after they first left that shop with the 6 month warantee. Usings 100w halogen :lightbulb bulbs computer controlled stepper motors with 16 gobos each. They gotta be my favouritess and still use them now.

Ok next person whats you favourite and why ?

My PSL Gobostars almost an club industry standard for years and still selling after 15 or more years I seriously cant fault my 3 they just go and go and the goboes are good as well

Yes. Kind of a disco light. I've had a large set of these for over 4 years, only changed two lamps despite the fact:

- They get bashed around in transit
- Have no flight cases
- They've been used week in, week out pretty much constantly
- Some of the programmes I use them with envolve them flashing v. fast

I don't think you can buy a more durable lantern :)

I suppose over the last 6 years, I've always used Twister 4's, so I'll go with that! :D

Na for me it has to be the dynamo scans...... 4 150w scanners for £310 BARGAIN!!!!! and they look just as bright as many 250w effects... The inbuilt patterns are great and never get tiring oh and they are small in size and body.......... Big down side is the big childish lettering on the front of them dynamo party scan - but a can of black spray paint sorts that out :)

I'd have to agree on that one for value for money, but as we don't use them, i'm going to have to say something different.

IMO, the iShow 4 Moonflowers from iSolution are the best lighting effects that we have because i like the fact that there have two separate gobo and colour wheels, which provide really nice effects. They fill the room if they are projected outwards, and fill the dancefloor (dependant on size) which provides a nice effect for people to dance on :)

And obviously, it can be controlled by the CA-8 controller :teeth:

I had the Dynatwins and I thought they were way too fast... (and no they weren't DMX'd)

The use a 250watt discharge lamp, which last 2000 hours or more.

Very bright beams, cut through the air even without fog. Great built in slow programs, as well as fast. Two units set up well are a lightshow in themselves, without the need for an external controller.

Would probably be my old basic 'Wild Moon' scanning moon flower. Got it from Terralec some years ago for £99. Never had to change the bulb! Don't use it much now, actually never, as got some Dynamos. Was just great, plug it in & off it goes to the music.

Forget all this DMX stuff. ;)

My Abstract VR8s. Personally think they are cosmetically the best looking lights out there and the effect is pretty spot on too. Customers always oohing and aahing when they see them...

A bit old now, but Abstract twister 4 (250watt)

I use 2 all the time linked together be it a disco or karaoke, then bung on my other abs if I need to for a disco, I use them 3-4 times a week, never go wrong, not changed the bulbs for over a year now (long life ones).

A nice pattern and beams and not in your face

We used to use them, and I still have them in the garage for when people say "oh bring a couple of lights". Very very very good effect. 10/10

id agree there i had a couple of the old style twister 4s cracking effects ..... on the other side i had 2 futurescans that when they got warm would fling their mirrors across the dancefloor cost me a fortune they did lol till i realised incorporating ninja stars into your lightshow was a bad idea .... put me off scanners for years .

Yes, they have 7 combined gobos and colours. They really come into their own when linked together though - the way they alternate with each other is great to watch :claphands:

I'm still looking for something to run alongside them on slightly bigger dancefloors, preferrably a couple of scanning effects, so feel free to make suggestions people ;)

Despite having bought a vast selection of lights from moving heads to dmx scanners and lasers. My favourite light of all time has to be the MUSHROOM (http://www.terralec.com/product_images/prd%7B96F43ADA-C3B0-420C-8C13-EB4CE715DE87%7D.jpg).

600 watt light output and 2 of these on their own can fill a room. Sure, they aren't as sophistacated as a good dmx light, but to date they've been my favourite purchase ever. A bargain at only £40.
