Admin Fees

Having recently moved to a new postal district, I phoned my car insurance company to change the policy address. The lady says my premium has gone down by £35. I thought nice one :)

Then she says the admin fee for an address change is £35 so it levels it self out. What a rip off :o

Don't get me started on car insurance. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. We changed cars recently, and after going online found that the company I'm presently with would insure the new car online for half what they'd quoted me over the phone. Sadly, the cancellation charge was equal to half the premium.

Suffice to say, as my policies come due, I'm going to go somewhere else.

The thing is, all of these 'admin fees' are displayed in advance of you agreeing to buy the policy :o

Presumably you knew when you took it out that you were considering moving...

Same thing was done to me when my bank details changed for the direct debit, so I ask would you still charge me if I pay it off the balance with a debit card now, no we wouldn't she said , how much do want to pay off for this year I asked, she said £28.00 and you can start a new direct debit when you renew at no extra charge. :daft:

I took the policy out last year when we had no intention of moving in the near future. I knew they would charge something but didnt think it would be £35 quidders :daft:

we moved from a drug ridden street where the police were there on a daily basis, to a street 5 minutes away full of pensioners. My car insurance went up by £50 on each car (ive got 2) and they wanted to charge me £30 for the change of address.
i threatend to leave their company and the £30 'admin fee' got dropped.
2 months later, i got a garage for 1 car, the insurance didnt go down, and they charged me £15 for telling them id got a garage :(

no wonder so many people dont bother insuring their cars!!
