How are you doing and how is your work,hope everything fine. are will like you to be my one of our wedding Vendor.for the upcoming my daughter wedding that his going to be held in state and most important from you let me know where you located and your fees and your packages because my company is going to take care of any vendor that will be in the event.The total budget for the wedding will be take care from my company including your chargers. and i want to let you know that my company will be responsible for the payment of the wedding as they have promised to send the payment to you by check to make things easy for us,They have agree to send the payment by corrie service,And my corrie service:Censored: his going to deliver the wedding invitation card to your place. but don't border your self my company is going to cater for your any expenses.And will are still look for the venue and location.And am out of town now for the shopping for my wedding daughter.
1......mini-wedding of about 70 invites
2......the wedding start by 11a.m stop by 5pm
3......the wedding will be indoor.
4.......just 5 hours wedding party.
5......And the date of wedding is 27th of JAN, 2012

This is a known scam that has been doing the rounds in it's various guises for years. It has a number of ways to work it - the most obvious one being that you receive a cheque for too much money. They apologise for their "mistake" and ask you to refund the difference minus about 10% for your "incovenience". You think "Ohh, I've banked a cheque for £2000 more than they should have paid me, they only want £1800 back so if I send this cheque for £1800 now, by the time they receive it their cheque will have cleared and everyone's happy!". Unfortunately, their cheque bounces (possibly from a stolen chequebook), you've issued a legitimate cheque for all that money and you're out of pocket.

And that's only one possible outcome - there are lots of others!

The best solution is the button marked "delete" or "trash". Simples!

There's definitely a gap in the market to write believable scam emails for these people - I've corrected loads and sent them back with my rates, but no response so far!

Have to admit that's pretty funny!! :D

However, you found it looking for scambaiting sites? Why bother wasting your time with something as pointless as that? The easy option is the delete button for emails, hang-up for phone calls and the recycle box for letters. I really don't understand why you would even bother setting up a confrontation. Beats me! :shrug:

If you're serious about beating spammers, and bringing them to task, then Google the phrase "project honeypot" and take a look at the fine work this community is taking against spammers. Much more worthwhile than spambaiting.

I wasn't looking for them to use them, Dazzy. Just remembered some of the funny stuff they do. Then saw that video on one of the results. I don't get a lot of spam actually, probably because I try to obscure my email addresses and use contact forms with Captcha.

Apologies. My misunderstanding.

I've been involved with the anti-scam community for a number of years and we do hear of people who "scambait" as they think it's a laugh to try and get one over on the scammers. However, some of these scams are run by really frightening criminal gangs (and not the cyber-geeks that many people perceive them to be) and it's not unheard of for situations to turn nasty and people start to receive really sinister and threatening emails, letters and telephone calls. It's really not pleasant at all which is why I'd never recommend anyone takes this sort of action. Spam is easiest to deal and letters can be just binned but phone scams tend to be the worst.

If I was to type what I really think of scammers then I'd kicked off the forum!!

No problem, I have seen the sort of thing they can do as well. Which is why I wouldn't get involved. I got scammed on eBay when I forst moved here, only €350 but was one of those 'BOSE for €300' auctions that get pulled then you get a email saying they'll accept Western Union. As the mrs had sent me money using them when I was in the UK thought it would be ok. Sent it, and never heard anything since.

It really amazes me that (if my logic is sound) this must work at times. There have to be some shcmucks somewhere who fall for this, else surely emails scams would have died out by now?... the best solution is just to ban people stupid enough to believe this stuff from having email addresses....and from breeding. ;)


Although I will say, judging by the amount of emails I get from Nigerian generals with money to put in my account, the Nigerian army must be MAHOOSIVE!
I'm emailed GCHQ and told 'em to stop worrying about China.... ;)

I did originally type "brother-in-law-in-law" but decided like it sounded too much like alternative words to Rhinanna's "Umberella-ella-ella-ella".
