Had a well strange wedding reception last night was expecting 75+ guests, turned up set up ready for 6.30pm then asked to play back ground music til speeches made and then Buffet served, more background music, actually got going finally at 8pm with bride and grooms first dance etc etc

There were alot of families with young kids got most up and lots of dancing til 10pm or just after then mysteriously all said there good buys and had all gone buy 10.30pm. I was left with a very upset bride and no more than 15 guests to entertain whom expected everyone to stay at least till 11pm. I was booked till 11.30pm.

Bride thanked me at night end ands stormed of in disgust I felt so sorry but understood the reason why so many left (young kids bed times etc etc) but I have found that most people seem to stay longer than like this party did which was my first for this ever to happen. I was beginning to think I was scaring them off, but the music was everything the B & G requested and I was playing loads of requests as well

Isnt it so strange how some guest behave

Does happen when parents have young kids. Sounds like you were just unfortunate that you had a lot of them there.

I had a similar situation last night, but with a different generation. Almost everyone except about 5 guests were over 40 with a good proportion over 60/70!

Actually had an ok dancefloor, few off moments but nothing like i usually have. Atmosphere was definatly abit dull.

Come 10.30 there were about 15 of us left! Actually cheered me up alot by the fact the guy who booked us came up and said we did a brilliant job and all the guests said how much they enjoyed it!!!

Also got an enquiry while we was packing up but unfort booked on the date.

Similar thing for me last night, I was doing a disco for the Down's Syndrome Society and I was booked until 11:00 but practically everyone had gone by 10:00ish as they were all tired from the night before when they done some sort of night activity.

I stayed on untill 11:00 as planned and the remaining people seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves and they have now booked me again for there christmas party so all in all an excellent night and the number of people there after 10 did not ruin the party at all....

Thats weird...we had a similar thing. We were doing an 18th ("Club Feel Discotheque") booked from 7.30 till 12. By 11-11.30 people had started disapearing, which we find is unsual considering we normally have a full dance floor from 11 till 12.

Very busy between 9 and 10.30 though, way over the amount of people legally allowed in the room!

I had a booking for a church on Friday and the guest speaker was Johnathan Aitkin (disgraced ex-MP) and he went on for about an hour.

About 20 minutes after he'd finished, the room had gone from 300 people down to 4!!

And they stayed 'till 12...

I did a wedding in a function room at the National Hockey Stadium last year.

Booked til midnight, B&G left at 10 Everybody went out to say goodbye & didn't come back! Grooms dad came up to me, apologised profusely & said you might as well go home to. The thing I don't understsnd was up until the departure of the B&G I had a full dancefloor, actually overspilling into the bar area
