He was pioneer of the twin Turntrable!
Apparently at his time working for "MeccA Leisure
he was specifying the PA systems at the venues
I want TWO record decks each with its own fader.
The men from Grampian the PA company installing the clubs
systems replied
"our Gramophone decks are reliable sir youll not need a spare one!?"
(They obviously didnt get it)
im my opinion a true superstar....Imagine no twin decks!

Ahhhh...This is sad news.
I remember going on a fun run with him and 1000's of others in Basingstoke in 1976. I also wrote to him when I was 11 when he did Jim'll Fix It....(wanted to meet Gary Numan but some other little kid got to in 1982). I did go to see the show when it was filmed though and Shakin' Stevens was on it.

Did you know he was one of the first People to make money off Djing
A lot of people used to tune into top of the pops just for jimmy.
then there was Savile's travels on the radio.
There are not many for the masters of radio left i think not only should we remember jimmy but also alan fluff freeman and john peel and all the other great dj that have gone to the great garrard turntable in the sky.

Only just heard this, have been news-free for days....
I never usually give much of a hoot when I hear "celebs" have died. Never knew 'em personlly etc etc

BUT blimme - Saville holds is a significant chunk of memory from my childhood - somehow it feels quite personal to hear he's died.... :-(

I'm getting sentimental in me old age. RIP, Jimmy. :-/

As a slightly tastless aside....
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I recently saw a photo on facebook of Sir Jimmy with NADJ's own Paul Arnett????
And if you've ever met Paul....well let's just say it explains a lot. Poor Jimmy. :eek: :p
