Can anyone offer a bit of advice about wireless audio senders? I already have a Carlsbrough system which is a fair few years old but works well, However, I understand it is now deleted due to non-compliant substances in the solder. I now need a second system.
What I shall be doing is sending a stereo audio signal from the booth output on the Pioneer DJM3000 to a pair of QSC K10s which will be about 35-40m away but not quite in line of sight, at the far end of the room where I shall be set-up are 3 double doorways which will be permanently open and in-between each set of doors and also to the side of the outer sets of doors is a section of wall, the speakers will be the other side of the doors and just tucked round to each side behind the walls facing onwards into the reception bar area, they will be on stands and have the receivers sitting on the top of each cab by means of sticky back Velcro hook and loop strips. Mains sockets are not an issue as there is one each side exactly where the base of the speaker stands will be.
I have looked at some domestic units but to be fair the ones I have seen are not really up to this application.
I know that Line 6 do some digital guitar wireless systems and they do not have any compression issues for sending full audio. A friend of mine who plays at the acoustic night I do each week let me use his systems which are the lesser model that ends in 30…Line 6 also do a better model which ends in 50, the 50 model is the one I need but it is too expensive really so I am hoping there is something a bit cheaper on the market that I haven’t been able to find. The transmitter and one receiver is £369 and if I don’t want the bother of linking the 2 cabs a second receiver is an extra £250 so that’s over £600, if I then also want stereo images I would need 2 full sets which comes in at about £740, I was hoping to do the job for about £400. The lesser model would be in the region of £420 for mono and £500 for stereo but the range isn’t exactly brilliant and the antennas are internal so not able to be positioned. The more expensive model has external antennas and double the range as well as a few other refinements and in all fairness that would be the one I had to go for to ensure good results.
So…anyone know of anything more keenly priced that will do the job well? I’m sure I read somewhere or someone told me about a Vocopro system but can’t find it again.
