Thank you for the comments so far. In answer to Funkymook I am not only ex army (light infantry) but also spend about 2 hours a day 4 days a week working out or running so yes I was quite confident but most of it was really instinct. I heard a woman scream and started runnning. rest was kind of like a dog chasing a rabbit i had to because he ran.

And yes found out he was armed afterwards lol still easy when you have time to think about it afterwards.

Wish I had the balls to do something like that.

Although I admire what you did, I don't think it's wise to chase after people like that. Like Angela said, you could have been seriously injured over a bit of money and a few debit cards that can be easily cancelled.

I often think the term "heroes" when referring to squaddies/ex-squaddies is used far to liberally (I know quite a few who are just scumbags, really) but, in your case, I think it's a very deserved description!

Whilst I understand where people come from with these comments, I believe it's this kind of mentality that leads the cowardly scum to think they can get away with it. If muggers and robbers thought that people were going to stand up to them and that maybe they could end up getting hurt themselves, I'm sure some (not all) would think twice and we'd be on the road to making the world a better place.
