iPods and headphones

I've got a 3-4 year old iPod classic 80gb and some klipsch s4 buds as my iPod setup. I use it mainly for gym but also on trains and on holiday.

To be honest I've her really been happy with the sound. I like to enter my own little world and I like it loud and bassy.

The current setup is neither loud or that bassy unless you get the buds just right and because they move it disappears.

I also find too when the iPod gets below half battery the sound quality drops considerably in a way that it s trying save battery.

Is anyone truly happy with the sound that they get ?

Thats quite bizzarre as I didnt even realise iPods conserved battery power. Mine is a 120gb classic and it sounds perfectly fine right up until the battery dies altogether.

I have a couple of iPods and an iPhone and have never noticed a drop in sound quality, but everyones ears will be different.

I used to use the standard Apple headphones, until I was listening to my brothers iPod who had Sennheisers at the time. It was a different sound all together. So I now use some Sony ones that cost about £30 and they sound nice to me. My brothers now onto Bose as he got some crazy discount through his work!

Another thought - Do the Klipsch use those rubber bits on the end? If they are moving in your ear, try the bigger rubber bits to see if that helps?

I've got no concrete evidence but to my ears the sound drops off quite a lot. I am kind of thinking that is sounds horrible and 9 times out of the ipod is on 1/2 or less battery.

They do yes and I think I am the biggest. I did have some Senheisers 300s and I was a little happier with them. Maybe I should get some more.

Nothing seems to really hit hard though. To my mind I should never be able to play the Ipod at full volume and stand it, but I have to have mine up full to get decent volume. It doesn't leave any headroom.

I have a pair of Sony MDR XD-200. For a £15 headphone they beat the pants and socks off anything more expensive! 5* reviews everywhere you go and I agree with them all they way! They are a little big but well worth it.
