I'm just about to buy some uplighters and have decided that the Tri LED are the way I'd like to go, I know a few of you are already using this type, my question is what make are they and how are you finding them?

I've been looking at the Showtec Compact Par 7 Tri, seem pretty good.

Yeah me too but wouldn't a 2 way IEC splitter do the job?

I'm using 6 of the American DJ Tri 7's

Having not compared them with other units difficult to say how they compare but in use they are good. 6 is more than enough in a bag though as they are quite heavy.

There is an optional remote control which I have which is useful if you want to master slave and control a single unit with the control although in practice you could save the £15 and do the settings on the back. You can control RGB mix from the remote which i am not sure you can do on the back panel.

They are power and dmx linkable. I am just making up cables now for convenience :D

They are bright enough but would really show off on a higher ceiling.

Here are some pics in action

I'm just about to order a couple of those exact units to use inside truss, though they would be great for uplighting too.

I personally use the 18 x 3in1 LED version also made by Showtec but I bought them when they were on offer at not much more than the price of the 7 LED version (though I do have an account with Showtec :p)

Out of 18 I own, I've only had problems with one of them, so reliability is very good and they're so much better than cheap pars, not only because they can actually be seen in daylight and marquees but because the colours look so much better when the mixing is done inside a lens.
