It didn't happen last night but ...

I was doing one of my regular nights, a presentation night for a Poole (Dorset) cycling club. Sadly one of their riders was killed whilst racing on the open road.

At the beginning of the dinner the club paid their respect with a minute silence. Afterwards I had this terrible thought that I had not turned my mobile off, this got me thinking to what had happened a few years ago.

I went to see Bournemouth play at Dean Court and there was a two minute silence for somebody connected to the club who had passed away.

I was in the home end with all the 'boys' and everybody was respecting the silence admirably and then, yes, in a crowd of about 7,000 (don't laugh you prem big boys! :) ) my phone rang with the Captain Pugwash jig theme. Red or what! It felt as if the whole stand turned round and gave me the 'look'.

Has yours ever gone off at an inopportune moment?

Not like that but before the ipad I had downloaded a song on my iphone to play at a gig and of course someone sent me a text halfway through the song.....

My mobile has never gone off at a function or anything because I always put it on silent.

However, it did happen to a mate of mine when we were at a corporate presentation night a few years ago. The Managing Director of the company was about to do his speech and actually asked everyone to turn off their mobile phones about 2 seconds before my mates phone went off. It was 'Ace of Spades' by Motorhead and the Managing Director actually laughed, said he like the track and then continued.

My mate nearly died of embarassment.

My worst was in the cinema on opening night of the last harry potter film. I had put my phone into silent mode but didnt know that it doesnt silent alarms. So just at the climax of my film my mobile starts going off ( an airraid siren) hmmm boy did i leave in a hurry at the end..

I have a police siren as my ringtone on my iPhone, was in the chemist the other day and scared the bejesus out of an old lady sat next to me waiting for her prescription !

Also I was driving through the hospital grounds last year (not supossed to as haven't passed my test) as the mrs was in for the night, had the phone on the passenger seat and she called me to ask how long I would be. As it was the summer (yes we do have one !) the window was open, was funny as hell watching all the cars pull over thinking I was a doctor !

I tend to actually turn my phone off comepletely as sometimes you get that buzzing over the speakers or wireless mic.

The other cars could hear your phone ringing from inside your car?
