Sorry, genuinely didn't mean to insult anybody, was more of a figure of speech than an insult to anybody.

The reaction of the guests afterwards + how fake the brides blood looks, and she doesn't seem to be in any pain + how easily the marquee came down.

I've seen it before and I knew it were fake.

Apologies to anybody who read my post in the wrong tone of voice, must remember to use these more often :D

Put me in the "Sceptical" camp. I cannot conceive that any marquee erector could ever leave a tent in such an insecure state. Nor that it should collapse with such little applied force.

I suppose the only possible scenario for it to be genuine might be if some :muppet: had removed about 99% of the guy ropes. :confused:

I did a wedding in Summer 2010 in a marquee out in the country. The couple had booked a marquee company who was going to supply everything including the bar and disco.

The dj the marquee company had booked had double booked so he was ringing local djs. I took the job on. The day before the wedding the brides dad contacted me to see if everything was ok.

He said to me the marquee company are an absolute nightmare and he just wanted to check hiself that everything was in order with the suppliers the marquee guy had booked.

So i assured him that everything was fine and that if we wanted anything to give me a call direct instead of going through the marquee supplier.

The brides told me what had been happening with this marquee company.

The marquee he came with was a really tatty frame marquee when they put it up it fell down so the supplier had to go get in touch with some of his contacts in derby. They ended up supplying them with a couple of those gala tent things. The brides dad was up while 4.00am in the morning trying to set the marquee up because the supplier didnt know how.

The wedding day arrives and i get a call early morning from the brides dad what time was the disco booked from So i told him the time and he was supposed to have booked me for the afternoon speeches. So i settled a fee with him and went down there early.

I get there and there is some bar equipment in one corner of the marquee not setup or anything and the bride and groom are back from the ceremony in 1 hours time. The bride and groom and all the guests arrive back and there is no bar there they ring the supplier and he's about 100 miles away coming back with the bar bits and drinks. So the brides dad goes to the nearest asda and comes back with loads of alcohol. 3 hours into the wedding and the bar rolls up..... It was an absolute nightmare for them.

Peter might remember it... He come with me that night. The disco was a good night they really enjoyed it. I did hear from the brides dad a few months later that they had managed to sue the company.

Its a good job they had a different marquee in the end otherwise the marquee may have collapsed.

The gala tent gazebos as i call them did stay up. But it may well have ended in tragedy because that marquee company in derby was still going to put back up that same marquee that fell down. Until the brides dad stepped in and told him they dont want that marquee. Had he of not seen that happen he would have been none the wiser.

They had originally booked a good marquee company from Hull who had been down there do a site visit... plans and that drawn up but they ended up cancelling them because someone else recommended that company from Derby which turned out to be a big mistake.

The marquee company from Hull who they originally went with. I know them as well and they would have got a good marquee from them.

It should be an ad for booking responsible suppliers when getting a wedding marquee.
No proper professional would set up a tent that falls down just because some nutty woman pole dances on it.

Re John's Marquee Fiasco, yes mate, the brain cells haven't atrophied suficiently to forget that. One or two salient points are that all the punters and family thought you'd done a wonderful job, and that the chap originally tasked with organising the whole thing had not acted with malice or corner cutting, he simply was understaffed and too far away to be of any use whatsoever.

In effect, the whole thing was organised (salvaged? ) by family and friends ( and John ) at the very last minute. All's well that ends well.
