Just a quick question.
Looking at a flight case to hold. Denon DMX500, Transcension DMX Operator 2 Controller behind, and then my Numark demension amp underneath.
So will this all fit, and would it be ok permantly to house the amp underneath or would it get to hot? Also would it be strong enough and good enough for hold it all???
Thanks :)

Personally I wouldn't put my amp in my main play-out case.
Ventilation for one, weight for another. Yes it's convenient - but it'll do your back no favours!

Problem number 1, the denon is a very deep mixer...you cant have it right at the front of the rack and still get a 2U amp in the bottom....

Well he's hardly likely to buy one he hates, is he now? :coat:
Ralph, if memory serves, and I've understood you right, you have a 3U mixer, and a 3U controller to get in the top. Thus you need a minimum of 6U on top. I think you'd just get away with 2U high if you leave the amp out.
If it isn't one of the new featherweight ones, you'll never lift the case with a full weight one fitted anyway. Bung the amp in something like this. http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music/typeproducts2.asp?id=2846-4334
From the site you linked to, I'd say this is closer to what you need, and even that isn't perfect.

It's not an off the shelf model, but it isn't custom made, which I fear may be the route you end up taking.
Have I understood correctly what's going into the case? There isn't a Numark, Denon or Cortex going in with the mixer is there?

I beg to differ. I've got that case with a HD2500 (which is an inch taller than the X500) at the front, & there is ample room for a 2U amp, closer to 3U if truth be told.
If you're ok with the weight (& I wouldn't imagine it would weigh much more than my amp rack), the only issue I can see is heat. X500s can get quite hot, but as long as you have a good quality amp with a decent fan, I can't really see a problem.

Bloody laptop!

Bottom to top: 1U Patch panel, 1U drawer, gap bottom of the 2500.
Plenty of room

Steve, I've got to be missing something here. The case Ralph showed is only 2U at the front, so the amp would take all that up immediately.
Or did you mean the one I linked to? Even with 4U height at the front, I'd say it was likely to be tight.

After a nice friendly PM from Hammy (;)), my solution would appear to be sorted - he is selling the exact case I found for half the price.... let hope it fits!
Anyway subject to the wife letting me out for the night - its off to sunny east bourne for a beer and singsong to collect on Friday night!
Thanks for you help guys :beer1:

I have the case (11U 2U) linked to as my main playout case. I've even checked the paperwork to confirm I wasn't mistaken or going doolally (we also have 2 of the 11U 4U ones which we've been able to fit 2 2U CD drawer units & a 1U switch panel in)
Those cases are built for comfort, there is a nice allowance for the drop of kit in the top rails before they start measuring the 2U

Wish i knew that...ive been through 3 cases which have a 2U space at the front, and the dennons too big for them all...had to resort to 1U of useable space....
