The ending words of an email..
"Could you get back to me a.s.a.p or I will start looking elsewhere." :)

Quick! Email back....

On a similar topic - I always get people thanking me for replying so quickly, i guess people half expect to have to wait a couple of days for replies to emails!!

abyssdjhire
27-09-2006, 09:19 PM
we get thanks for replying quickly all the time... but we also get people saying "im unsure about paying in advance as i have a lot of bills to pay.... like photographers and florists"

delightful... i might decide i dont want to do the gig

Danno13
27-09-2006, 09:43 PM
Well just had an email enquiry this evening. Not only did they use the wrong form on my website, but they managed to put their email address in wrong.. so now i have no way of getting back to them!

Dragonfly
27-09-2006, 09:47 PM
danno if they have put it in wrong try replying to the address but change the .com to .uk or vice versa at the end of the address its a common error i find just trying to help.

Danno13
27-09-2006, 09:57 PM
Yep.. tried .com and .co.uk and alternative spellings (email address full of txt spk). Doesn't sound like a booking that would have come off anyway from their email.. but it would have nice to be able to at least try.

Candybeatdiscos
27-09-2006, 10:08 PM
I would get your forms to insist on a tel number, i much prefer to speak to clients now - a wee bit more personal, which people tend to enjoy

Danno13
27-09-2006, 10:11 PM
Ahh.. this is the other point though.. if they had used the correct form ( http://www.revolution-discos.co.uk/contact.php ) all would be well, but just recently people have been using the one on this page..( http://www.revolution-discos.co.uk/comments.php ) despite my efforts to direct them to the right page.

I think i might just ditch the form on that second page to be honest, its never been used for the correct reasons....

You'll see on my contact page i give people the option of how i contact them.. around 90% just click the email one, the rest click both.

Candybeatdiscos
27-09-2006, 10:12 PM
but if you make all forms that the tel number has to be inserted or the system cannot accept it

I will reply but til they phone or leave a contact Number or 2 as well as communicate via email There are just TOO many spoofs around this year alone, it only makes common sense to request this small amount of info. Would suggest leaving a note on your website stating this small fact

Danno13
27-09-2006, 10:13 PM
Yep could add a telephone number field to that other form quite easily. thanks for the suggestion! :)

Candybeatdiscos
27-09-2006, 10:20 PM
no probs mate...as i say I think that its more personal, also does anyone else think that in the digital and internet age that we are now in, we are starting to lose the basic personal service, with people preferring to email rather than phone

Thames Valley Discos
27-09-2006, 10:42 PM

Candybeatdiscos

and spend a lot more than the cost of a disco

Candybeatdiscos
27-09-2006, 10:48 PM
just because its the 21st century, doesn't mean that we cannot offer a personal service to customers...just because ebay, amazon etc do not want to employ staff to answer phones and have a call centre etc doesn't mean that we should...

sorry not trying to sound tempramental, I just feel that speaking to a punter face to face or over the phone at least offers a wee bit of a personality to your business...

Thames Valley Discos
27-09-2006, 10:51 PM
But my point is, that i and others will happily buy items online for more than the cost of a disco. At the end of the day for an average disco, we are talking little money in the grand scheme of things. I actually prefer to go online, find what i want, buy it, without so much as taliking to anyone. Job done n minutes. just my opinion, i hate phones.

I find older clients prefer to hear a voice on the phone, the majority of my younger clients seem to prefer email correspondance. I feel at ease either way.

Thames Valley Discos
27-09-2006, 10:56 PM
Yes to you £200/£300 etc is a wage, but to the client it is a one of payment, they may never pay for a disco again in their life. so £300 is not a lot of money to spend via email/on line

Like i say, i prefer email, if i loose bookings because thats my preference, then so be it. Obviously i will and do talk on the phone, but its not my prefered means

BeerFunk

I find many customers email, even though they have the option to phone. It's just far more efficient, isn't it? I can see the advantage of face to face, or on the phone though.

Dragonfly
27-09-2006, 11:01 PM
can understand both points totally

on the one hand is the personal technique where you put yourself out and call to talk to a customer about their wishes which i can understand.

on the other is the quite correct thought that some people like to just get what they want and go if i go into a shop and am approached by an assistant who i know willtry and sell me something err ..... sorry help me seriously i leave instantly . my approach is to send an email with my number and make it clear to the customer that if they require any further information please dont hesitate to call me to discuss exactly what they want as i will try and help any way possible.

Normally most parties are shared / split costs these days and both means of contact are std these days. Also both are required for validation as an internet address is just not enough proof of booking an event, nor are the contents within emails yet in court enough proof of a booking in its self. Verbalising a contract is very required and will be upheld by a Judge in court with Signed paperwork they would have to pay regardless if you have these last 2. Anyone can say they wrote an email from someone elses address these days.

Because there's no emotion on the net.

You can't sell yourself via an email as well as you can by chatting to someone and selling them yourself.

in general customers prefer to speak on the phone...I work at sky, and you can email your question in and get it resolved....but the call centres still take on average 10k+ calls a day, and no its not just people who do not have email access, many people call to buy sky and can go through the website to get it, but they prefer to call and speak to someone

you normally tend to find that cable packages are rubbish...

have you seen HD though? - Tell you what its mindblowing....if i had a HD telly then i would go for the box (we get it for £99) but i aint at the stage where i have spare cash to buy a HD Telly

To be honest, it annoys me having to pay an extra subscription for HD. I will get it eventually, but not while I have to pay £299 for the box and £10 a month subscription fees.

yeah i reckon the £299 price is too expensve, but the cost after you have bought the box is exactly the same for the sky+ - also if you have the top package you dont pay any extra
