Hi all,

At present I'm running x2 peavey pro 15 tops along with x2 peavey subs and a peavey 2600 amp.

Playout is coming from laptop, Numark D2 or Denon DND4000 cd players and a Numark CM200 usb mixer.

I'm after a Denon X500 mixer as I've been told this will improve my sound. Is this true ? and how will it improve it?

Sorry to sound a bit wet behind the ears with this,

Years ago I went from a Numark CM100 to an X500 - it was like a heavy woollen blanket had been lifted from the front of my speakers, fuller bass, clearer mids and highs. The EQ's actually made a difference (not that I had to tweak them much), so overall a real improvement all round.

Based on that I'd say it's definitely worth you trying out an X500 to hear for yourself.

Since then I've slimmed down my play-out and used a Denon X120 and X050 - neither have been as good (IMO) as the X500. Seriously thinking of going back to using one.

I went from a Citronic CDM8:4 to a the X500 and can only echo what Funkymook has said.

I did the same... Massive improvement!

One of the best mixers IMO - don't know what they did but it really packs a punch.

Sounds good, thank you for your replies so far!.

Does anyone know where I may be able to find a decent 2nd hand one? Trouble is budget is minimal due to the time of year and certain auction sites havent had any for ages.

If you could keep your ear to the ground it would be greatly appreciated .

Firstly I'd put an ad in our Wanted section.

I have the X900 and can vouch it is a good solid mixer and has a lovely sound.

Numark to Denon here - well worth the extra money to go up a notch
