Opening bit is a bit confusing with the blends - I thought the bride was behind the mixer for a moment!

Nice camera work though, some of it looks a bit stale and staged (closing of the van door for example) but a really good effort.

Agree about the text, look forward to seeing the finished video

Yep, Scruffy shoes! I turned my nose up at that point.

It is a good idea for a camera shot, but I expected a riggers boot come out of the van and hit the floor.

Great video though. I aspire to doing something like this one day, but never seem to have the time to get all the shots during set up.

Looking forward to the finished video though.

I both like and dislike this video.

On the plus side it demonstrates clearly the amount of work that goes in behind the scenes, how impressive the set up is and how most of the added services create a real "wow" factor.

It's also a plus that it is unlike any other DJ related promo I have seen to date.

However, I agree that the music is too much to be used for the entire video and the wording is lost.

You mention a "remote request station" or something similar but don't feature it in the video, which seems odd as it is obviously another USP.

You also appear to have uplit the venue and not made a feature of that either, unless it wasn't your uplighting? Even if it wasn't but you do offer the service I would be tempted to make something of that because the colour is clear in parts of the video.

And the one thing that stuck for me, after seeing all the work that goes in and the various services you offer, is that the name "Pulse Roadshow" doesn't fit with what you appear to do.

Looking at what is in the video I would have expected you to be called "Pulse Event Services" or something similar because actually DJing and playing music hardly features, but photography, projection, colour wash etc. does.

The music is royalty free hence why its in use, but I was aiming to get suspense and drama from the music.

Uplighting was mine but not the best job I've done so didn't use the footage. Also wanted to use still images but this doesn't work properly so it will have to be video. Remote request station & gameshow system still to be filmed, do have some good footage of bits of the gameshow but there is music on the clip and i'm not sure as to how much of a song, if any, I can put on a promo video without needing permission etc

Was going to use stills like the request station below, but again, it doesnt work in the video. Thanks to John from beautiful day for the camera work btw.

Richard, I think you would be foolish not to change the shoe shots. You've got such a brilliant video that must have taken a long time to film and edit. Why let a few seconds taint and potentially ruin the whole video?

I wouldn't cut corners for the sake of it.

Well that's strange, those shoes were brand new on the day. But if you all think wedding clients will be put off by them it's easier to delete the scene.

Fab video, but not really for weddings. It was more a company promo for corporates etc, not really gentle enough to appeal to a bride IMO.

Very dramatic!

A bit too much of doing shoes and shirts up - thought that was unnecessary.

Overall, very pro, but needs to be gentler if you want to appeal to the mass market.

I can't see a potential customer looking at that video and noticing the shoes.
I would never have noticed them if I hadn't seen the comments beforehand and when I did see them they didn't look that bad.....did they?

Anyway....I think the video is well done. It looks very professional and will no doubt interest lots of people.
I like the idea of the Remote Request Station but as said already, it doesn't seem to feature.
I also like the way that potential customers can see exactly what goes into the whole show. It all looks very impressive and a 1000 miles away from what I am doing at the moment.
I agree with what Darren says about the tying up of shoelaces and buttoning of shirts etc, a tad too much overkill on that part but I guess the idea there was to show that you make the effort to change etc.

Overall I think it's good. I didn't listen to the music as I had the computer on mute so I can't comment on that. Everything else looks good to me.

ive not read all the comments but the main thing that stands out to me is that you clearly have alot of good equipment b ut the backdrop for the photo booth is a real POOR effort? even has a big crease in it :(

I might do one like that and ride in on a horse (as I am based in the New Forest).
all my gear can follow in a big truck behind a big explosion with all the guests looking in amazement. :D
I will then get a team of bikini girls to unload and set up while I get a foot massage on the front lawn by the bridesmaids.

There are a few negatives as always (but far more positives)

Love the look the photographer gives you.

It has taken me a few years to smarten up and it does make a difference, especially as a key point on a main showreel. They are not bad but it should be a focal point and they should look good. I have now gone back to wearing a suit and I must say I feel better and am treated much better than just a shirt and trousers. Also keeps me warmer. :p

Walked into a local venue for a gig last night and a previous DJ had had some issues over Christmas.
I went to see him and he had jeans and a tshirt on for a four star corporate function!!
The sales manager (ie the boss) commented on my appearance and said how smart I looked.

I totally agree. I would reshoot that with a really nice pair.
visuals are very important to women and my girlfriend actually first liked me as I had nice shoes. My ex used to call me "carte noir" as she did not know my name (before she met me) as I had nice shoes. I have a tatty pair from clarks now but my current girlfriend bought me some new ones for Christmas. :p

Any suggestions guys as I have not bought them yet?

I would cut out lots of the van bits and add the guests taking requests later on at a fake wedding somehow or future event. Do you do pre event planning as that would be a big plus point IMO and something to start the vid with (ie you turning up at the clients house in some nice shoes ;)

More focus on the guests actually talking to you and you interacting would be great as not everyone would like to use it perhaps and requests are important to bride and grooms.

Same here. I hate the word package I would change it to service. I would perhaps not also say your the best as I can bet there are other people who may offer the same or different service. :)

I really like it! It's great. Good story and very professional. I would loose the van arriving and shoegate. It takes up quite a bit of the promo and just pads it out. The only other thing is the music, a little bit Hollywood. There is shedloads of library music that would be more appropriate. Well done.

Firstly thank you all for your posts
I have taken on board lots of the comments I have received. It's difficult to take some of them & get what I want to achieve clear in my own head and to a degree that makes me uncomfortable. I believe I have done what I need to.
Bits in the final video has seen scenes removed new ones added, old ones put in again text added and changed to the point where I have confused even myself. Hopefully it's more wedding friendly.
I have left the beginning pretty much the same I thought of it as a guy thing, I imagined that the guys will lose interest roughly where the draft finished anyway and take away from it that I have got some nice kit and :Censored: shoes . It continues from there aimed at the ladies really (or at least I tried to do so)
As for appearance - well I've tried it all. When I wore the tucs to every wedding I felt less approachable, Jeans & t shirt I just wouldn't do apart from when setting up I think my work wear looks smart It does have a tie that compliments the finished look but the heat gets the better of me.
I am a very fat lad, I wish I looked like mr "Your DJ" but I don't and the reality is I look silly in a suit & as most big men do I abandon the jacket because they make me look ridiculous. I am aware my look is my own doing before anyone points that out. Incidentally the feedback forms that do get filled in have always had my appearance as 5 stars.
As far as the video goes, from a customer point of view ,I hope people will take from it, when it's shown at wedding fayres etc, that I may look a little rough but I know what I'm doing and I do offer a professional level of service & entertainment.
