Whats the difference between a standard 250 watt bulb and the 150 watt special bulb (cant think what its called) and they be interchanged?
So many makes, but they all look the same
STAIRVILLE - IMODE/ROCK to name but a few even the chavet light looks the same, are they?
Your advice chappies would be a great help before I spend more money

Discharge lamps. They will typically last 2000 hours, and will be much sharper and give a brighter white. In smoke they will cut through the air better.
They are also more robust in transport.

The 150 watt discharge lamps tend to give a more pronounced, clear and striking beam, the downside is that is that they usually tend to be more expensive, a LOT more expensive. They can't be interchanged.
All my "movers" use the cheaper 250 watt ELC lamps and they are still the dogs danglies :).
Take the plunge, get the movers...you won't regret it ;)

nobody has said that discharge lamps are not only a brighter white.. but are also a whiter white, and therefore produce more vivid colours
theyre not expensive at all, if you take into account the advantages. what kind of head are you looking at mike?

No you won't.
Not in a crowded room, not in a gig situation and not if you're not overly technical.

But why would it be a problem if you are using only 1 type on a show?

I think i would prefer the white to be a bit dimmer, as its the brightest colour, be less glare in the room.
