Friday - no gigs taken as works night out @ Hanna Hanna Japanese restaurant in Newcastle followed by a jaunt to Shark Club Newcastle
Saturday - normal residency cancelled for the week due to private party wanting to provide their own entertainment (it's a leaving do for a guy who's an Elvis impersonator and he wants to do his own entertainment)
Sunday - Son's 6th birthday so we're out for the day followed by his birthday tea and games at his house.
So, for only the 3rd time in 2011, I'm going to be spending more than I earn this weekend

This is the quiet week for me - it gets progressivley busier throughout the month and still have last minute stuff coming in!
Yesterday had some B&W floor go out on dry hire.
Today I delivered a 3-week hire of Blackout cloth + stands.
Tomorrow have more B&W dance floor going out on dry hire.
Friday - PA system being collected for a dry hire, a 12x12 Black LED floor being delivered, I'm personally DJ-ing in the evening for the 4th year in a row for a company's Xmas do, potentionaly a 15x15 Parquet floor out for a two-week hire too, if they confirm tomorrow.
Saturday - Just a 16x16 Black LED floor out
I've arranged cover for collections and returns of hires so that I can take Saturday night, Sunday and half of Monday off, which will be nice as it's probably the last weekend I'll be able to do this until mid January!
Saturday - normal residency cancelled for the week due to private party wanting to provide their own entertainment (it's a leaving do for a guy who's an Elvis impersonator and he wants to do his own entertainment)
So Elvis will really be leaving the building then ....
Nothing for me this week.
Strangely December is always quiet for me. Next gigs 17th, 26th and 31st. :D

Just starting out and it's my first paid gig tomorrow :) A 28th birthday party with 40 or so people just outside Peterborough. Really looking forward to it but a little nervous at the same time  Should be good as I have met the client already (dropped into her house last week to pick up a cash deposit as she didn't have a cheque book) and she's given me a good idea of what she wants. She was bitterly disappointed with the DJ she had last year who had awful sound quality, she couldn't hear him on the mic (cheap kit?), and he didn't have much of a music selection. So I've got some standards to beat! She did say she was going to ring round more people for quotes but she liked the sound of me so she didn't bother to look any further :D
Then next Saturday I've got a 38th birthday party in Kettering with a guest list of all women!
Not got much work after that until next month but hopefully if I do well at these gigs I'll start to make a name for myself :)

I decided back in February just to take work for myself this year as last year was too hectic with sorting out other DJs and stupid little problems.
I'm doing 23 in December mostly at Rookery Hall. I do an acoustic night each week and am slightly concerned as I'm having to do it for the last time next week till Jan 11th, I just can't keep it going at the same time as my residency so I am hoping it won't take too much kick starting again in the new year. I thoroughly enjoy the night as its something completely different to what I normally do and lots of the regulars and musicians have become friends so it was a difficult decision to make.
I have done some Christmas parties already and am just about getting into it, the parties are also getting better attended with each night that goes by and folk are steadily getting into the Christmas spirit. I have also got a few coming up that are for single companies rather than public and some of them are regular clients so I know what they are like and there are some wild ones on the horizon.

So how are the Christmas parties going?
My one last night wasn't too good, it was llargely dominated by a party of 5 tables from a medium sized company who weren't really up for it. They were fairly youngish but the men all wore bow tie and tux and the ladies were very conservatively dressed, they had asked to have their drinks reception in a seperate room and it was like they were there because they had to be. The other tables were mostly made up of families and groups of friends and one of them went straight after the food because a elderly lady got very badly drunk and was ill...not nice at all. I really struggled to get the party kick started.
Friday night was a different story, absolutely mad crowd, 2 groups of primary school teachers, 2 tables from a Doctors surgery and a couple of other smaller companies and they all mixed and had a fantastic time. Tonight is a mixed bag again and tomorrow is Swinton Insurance and they have always been a good crowd.
