This weekend is the busiest that I can ever remember it being, its certainly a record breaker in terms of money coming in!

Tuesday:

2x Flame Lights in London

Wednesday:

Prep / general office stuff

Thursday:

1x Snow Machine out on dry hire
9x Stage decks out on hire

Friday:

1x 16ft x 16ft Black & White Floor in Leicestershire
1x White Draping and DJ in Castle Donington
1x 34m of white drape and 50m of Starcloth & uplighting in Coventry
1x 24ft x 24ft Black & White Starlit floor out in Mansfield
2x Discos

Friday night collect everything back in (3 vans + ours as its all out again at 8:00am Saturday morning).

Saturday:

1x 4m x 3m LED Floor near Worcester (Danno / Neil is DJ'ing bizarrely)
2x Discos
1x 46ft x 30ft Black & white starlit floor, 60m of starcloth, red carpet and flame lights in Leeds
1x 30ft x 16ft Black & white starlit floor, 30x LED Battens, 50m of Starcloth, DJ, Moving heads, Truss Podiums, haze etc in Northampton.

Sunday = an early christmas day at my dads as the family are all going away to Argentina for Christmas (lucky for some) so we are having it early!

Worked out the logistics earlier and I'll be lucky if I get 4 hours sleep per night over the weekend. Will be good fun as usual though, I love it when its really busy.

I just hope our prep sheets for the jobs are correct and that we don't forget anything with our 2 big jobs on the Saturday being so far apart!

Just the usual Xmas saga for me...

Peter is coming down on the Friday. He's doing a job for me on Friday night, staying in a hotel, followed by a kids party on the Saturday.

Paul (supersound - magic man) is coming down Friday afternoon and staying at mine over the weekend doing a school disco and private party. I've taken Saturday night off so I can dance like a mainiac at the Neighbourhood Watch Xmas party.

So you can't experiment or try things out.

I wouldn't go and buy a dancefloor before hiring a few out first to see if it's worthwhile.

Did you wake up one morning and suddenly decide you're a multi op?

Chris is saying that he might become a multi op which doesn't make sense as he already has multiple bookings, so he already is IMO.

And let's be honest CB, yes you would go and buy a dance floor and then see if it's profitable....

If he is coping ok with the multiple bookings etc and it's a common thing then Multi-Op seems the natural way to go. If it's just a 'this time of the year' thing then as long as you can cope with it all, that's great.

Not entirely true. I've got the savings to do it but only had a couple of hire jobs, so I know (at the moment) it's not for me.

I've done end of tour parties there before, you'll probably be in the bar above the main enterance (you shouldn't nead any more gear than you usually take to the studios (tops & subs right?) ). Chances are you won't get in until the audince has taken their seats. Make sure you have a trolley.

I have got my first disco this Saturday given to me by a local dj.
Its a staff party for HSBC and he is giving me the full £120.
How many watts of speakers should I be taking to this disco? he said he doesn't know how many people will be there but I'm thinking it could be a lot.

Xmas party last night and another tonight. Day off tomorrow!
Last night's one was absolutely wild. One company had taken over the whole hotel. I had 160 in the main function room and another dj who happens to be a friend and SEDA member was downstairs with another 80. Sadly for him most of his audience came upstais to me and my danceloor was completely rammed from start to finish. Manic night.

My gig on thursday....Hmm

They started with a meal at midday free champagne and wine. At 5pm they all came downstairs to the restaurant where I was doing a disco and a band did 3 40 minute sets. 230 people and a £20k bar tab. ( so much for the recession)

Needless to say by 9pm most of them had flaked out somewhere or gone home. by 11pm the remaining 20 were determined to drink the remainder of the bar tab !! then all fell over.

Despite the over indulgence it was a great gig, and they were all suprisingly polite, the stragglers all came and thanked me for playing their requests if somewhat incoherently.
