I have a dual set of AKG mics and i dropped one last night, so need a replacement UHF mic (any half decent one).
I am assuming this will work if at the same frequency
alternatively another dual set of the same would be fine too. :)
I do like my AKG's so will get another set.

I think AKG are in Godalming (cattershall lane) give them a call. But you are very unlikely to get that frequency as that is part of the new mobile broadband (when it comes in), as Ofcom would have informed you, as it's a licensed frequency.

So youtube footage will be coming through when announcing speeches then :p
What is the new un-licenced frequency then. I have never really looked into it.

Channel 69 is being used elsewhere, so TV channel 38 (606-614MHz) has been officially announced by Ofcom as the replacement for TV channel 69 (854-862MHz).
Basically, anything 863-865Mhz is OK and the new channel 38 replaces 69 but you will need a licence for channel 38.

I have a dual set of AKG mics I may part with as a i barely use them. After £125 delivered if you are interested. Or £130 if you want it on next day.
I have the twin HT 40 mics with the twin channel UHF reciever. Its about 4-5 months old and still on original battery ( cant fault 1 aa with 30 hours life can you)

So my one is not OK then? What will this mean - will I have mobile conversations over the mic, or just need a license?

Interesting. I may take you up on that.
I am also looking at the mini one as its £85 and the box is smaller. I generally only use one mic.

858mhz will just go fffssshhhhhhhh....... when you switch it on. It might go bzzzzzzzzzzwwwrrrrrrr...... but you get the drift. Those frequencies are being used for the digital age.
As has already been said, you need either channel 70 or channel 38 from early 2012. I've got a Shure PG58 and a Beyerdynamic on Ebay and both are 2012 compliant on channel 70. I'm looking for 120 quid for either one.

Ok strange i just posted here and it disapeared?? As I said the new mini akg is locked to a single frequency so if you intend to use 2 mics together you may find it is not up to the job. Also I think the mic is not the same as the ones we have but i could be wrong.

really or is this more like the millenium bug?
Lets say I purchase this license - why and how will it make the sound not go ssshssssss then?
Bet I can carry on using it without any ill efect. Probably like mahony in police academy 2 though in the old zoo (not the new zoo) :D
Apparently its coming in after the olympics - for obvious reasons.
I would rather stick with AKG. I hired an sm58 and thought it was pants in comparison :)

what about a Sennheiser radio mic.
I have thought about them but I am very happy with the AKG ones for the price and know the product well. I like to get something good and stick to it, hence why I have not upgraded my vestax controller - I could get a pioneer but it does the job and has not let me down etc. ;)
Which seniser model would you suggest though as i know they are a much superior product.

Toby, try and read all the information properly...
The frequencies on channel 69 will be used elsewhere and won't be available for radio mics. Channel 70 (863-865) will be staying the same.
The new channel 38 is the one that you need a licence for and it has been working in a lot of areas for months already.
Now repeat that back to me...:D

Would someone like to educate us plebs on here who have never heard of, and do not know what a 'line 6' mic is all about?
What's different about them? How are they different? If they don't work on 'channels', how do they work? Do you have a link, etc, etc?

Looks promising.
Been looking at the AKG's and the Mhz specs are not being advertised.
How much are these line six things and what is so different?
Thanks :)

Hello
The Line6 Digital Wireless are exactly that - based on Digital Wireless technology 2.4GHz :) (just like wireless internet technology).
Read up on the spec sheets Toby
Thanks

That was my point :p I do not understand the specs but was more interested on first hand good and bad points about the microphone systems and any possible issues as opposed to a UHF one.
Admittedly I was on holiday but need a mic and could not be bothered to think too much about DJing for once. Back now.
