DB605D whistle - Denon MC6000

Hi,

a fellow DJ has got an issue with his DB Technologies 605D speakers in the fact the emit a very high pitched whine which is audible when no audio is playing.

The speakers are connected to his Dennon MC6000.

We hooked his speakers upto My LD wireless system and the noise goes away, which would point to a possible issue with the denon or possibly the leads.

We have tried different leads and it is still there, so we think it is the Denon, however we swapped his Dennon for mine and mine does the same.

Well that is until we "wiggled" the XLR connections on the back and the noise just dissappeared. When we tried this on his Dennon it made no difference whatsoever.

It's either the Dennon or XLR connectors

I have suggested he puts a DI box between the Denon and speakers and see if the noise goes away as a next course of action.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Whilst certainly not being familiar with the Dennon MC6000.
ANYTHING in your "Playback Chain" that has a 3 wire mains supply
that "Dumps" computer noise into the Earth Line ( like Laptops and Crapamps with Auto voltage sensing switching power supplies) will fill your
amplification with Digital HASH. As youve discovered sending via a wireless link in effect isolates the earth and kills the noise.
a DI box will only do the same if " GROUND LIFT " is selected.
Much better to use a ground loop isolator

We isolated the laptop from mains so it's not the laptop.

Will try the DI box and I have a pair of ground loop isolators he can try.

Actual no he had stupidly (or he says a mate did it) set the input impedience incorrectly on one of the speakers - Mic instead of line :daft: :daft:

Switched over correctly and all went quiet as should be!
