Vauxhall Zafira - the ultimate DJ wagon

As a fan of vans and the security the provide I have had to purchase a new car in one day as I drove my van in to a puddle that was 1 metre deep (long story and yes I know me and water has not been very lucky recently :D). I go to Poland tomorrow and have had two gigs before as well as loads when I get back.

My Astra is now not working and I needed a car yesterday so found a Zafira as it has the same engine and my one runs superbly on Bio fuel. To say this was an impulse purchase is an understatement but I got a 2001 model for £1250 which was very good as its in fantastic condition.

Thanks to Paul the Party DJ for assisting in transport. Another person who sits around doing nothing all day :p

It is brilliant and fits all my kit.
The middle seats turn into a semi bulkhead (although I will add my own too) and the back seatds go into the floor.
its not too far from the ground and has a great boot.

Same as the Touran - different engine.

Very pleased and better than the astra if it had protected windows.

Couldnt agree more. I drive a 2005 1.6 model and it fits everything at a push (including 2 32" screens, stands and 4 speakers), for getting gear about whilst at the same time being no slouchy tank of a car, it is second to none, in my humble opinion.

Yep, got to agree, I had the newer shape 2006 model and it was fantastic to drive. Could very easily fit my whole rig in now but the only thing it struggled with was the sheer volume of par cans I carry around from one gig to the next, that was the only reason I got rid of mine.

The bulkhead with the seats is genius...absolute genius. I had the CDTI and it was probably the best MPV I ever had...very sad to see it go.

I have to agree with this had a 55 plate for 3 years and its brilliant all the gear goes in with room to spare (perhaps i don't have enought gear) and very good mile per gallon

A van is the ultimate DJ wagon as it is made to carry goods. A car isn't, doesn't come with a bulkhead, making it dangerous and has windows compromising your security.

Fair enough but this is very useful. The windows are the bad bit, but I must say the seats are very strong when up.

did an emergency stop practice yesterday and they did not budge.
I am hoping I can put my astra bulkhead as its designed on the same chassis apparently.

Use window film to tint the windows. It is very good and also acts as not only hiding what is inside but if a window is smashes it holds the glass together preventing entry or damage from glass.

Yes its a first precaution but as I have said I will impliment some form of bulkhead soon. I do think the seats will hold lots back in a minor impact but I would rather not wait to see. Two slobbering dogs in the back is also an incentive.

Just gone from a 54 to 06 the newer model is brill
Just did a massive gig in hull and managed to get
Large playout case (mc6000 & dvd player) 2 large Peavy's, 2 irock 7s in cases,
2 i move 200 in cases, 2 32" tvs, 3 Kam lasers, 4 qtx flat pars, deck stand, amp, speaker stands, goal post stands & bag of assorted wires,
+ me and my other half!!!

I have to agree with this having recently bought one.

The primary reason I bought a Zafira is because of a growing family. The amount of space in the back of that thing has surprised me...

Has anyone used the new Tourer version, I am due to get one in July and just wondering what these are like for space. I think they are supposed to be slightly bigger than the older models.
