Do any of you buy your customers anything at Christmas? I'm talking about people who recommend you or perhaps you have a residency somewhere?

I send a card to my regular venues as a thank you and that's it really. It's the thought that counts eh.

We drop off a big box of celebrations at ours - that way the booker can either take them home or share them with everyone else.

This year the companies and venues that recommend us have received £50.00 Vouchers to the Birmingham Hippodrome. :)

I'd have to question why? Unless you have a bit of a personal 'bond' with them, then I don't see why you would do that.

My accountant sends a card every year with the address printed on the envelope, and simply 'Keith' written inside the card. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I'd rather he didn't send anything at all than do that. I wouldn't be surprised if he got someone to do them for him.

What a chasm we have to bridge with Regional Differences. Round here, my customers buy me presents. I've just collected fifty quids worth of fresh turkey, two bottles of wine and a game pie.

The good news is that this year I will only spend about a fiver on drink, rather than fifty. :D :D :D :D :D




For those who haven't spotted the little nuances in our cheery badinage, for the immediate future, I'm effectively teetotal, as Kernow knows and is referring to. I went on my annual Xmas Day Out yesterday, and had a real ale or two. Only a fraction of what I would normally have,( and even this limited amount will last me to my birthday ) so that this morning I suffered no ill effects. I only wish I could say the same about the Mirchi Murgh Garlic Chilli Korai. :eek:

Been using Fragrance Direct, got perfume for the girls and after shave for the lads. I got a black lacey G string for the manageress of my main venue which she had to open in front of the rest of the team and also a Pointsettier Rose plant, I also got a tin of Quality Street to go in the staff room of all my regular venues.

I'm doing one staff party FoC this year and one for £50. I have had a couple of bottles of wine and a light-up Christmas bow tie so far this year.

I'm not really sure that's appropriate tbh, even if it is in jest.

We just got the lady in charge of our main venue a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates, its not something that I have done in the past but this venue give us loads of work so its well worth doing I think.

Well my regular venue gets me for free for the staff party.
But the venue earns 5% for every recommendation that turns into a booking which normally pays for the staff drinks at the party.

I know of a few companies that have stopped this practice entirely or indeed cut right back.


Some firms now don't allow their staff to accept gifts. Be it Xmas or any other time of the year.

Nowadays it's a corporate wall planner or diary, a pen and possibly a keyring and a couple of company logo embossed mugs.

Maybe it's just companies tightening their belts

I am doing my presents early next year and will only include the main venue staff and a few others. I think thats a better time as they are less busy and it will mean more.
