I've had two cancellations for parties in January, both of the bookings were from people who work at the same place and they are losing their jobs because their employer has announced it is closing down.
Both were totally apologetic and both were totally amazed when I said that I would return their deposits but the way I see it is they've had enough bad news for December and money is going to be tight for them so it didn't seem right to keep their deposits (especially since they have both booked me in the past). I also know for a fact that nobody else has enquitred about those dates so I haven't turned anyone away or lost anything in financial terms.
I think it's starting to bite if this is the start of things to come!
