I need some kind of stand for my Ipad to hook on to the frame work of my Ultimax stand, but also to the frame work of the drum kit stand here (http://www.alesis.com/dm6usbkit)

Any ideas?

could you use some 3mm ally plate i pad sized. with a stop at the bottom non slip tool box material on bit like a lectern, then fashion the desired mount from ithere a ultimax open casting and a bit of say 12mm stainless and a thumb screw to set the angle :)

if you want me too i have the use of cnc mills and lathes, il try and post a pic of a similar thing i made which fits onto a 25mm square bar of my stand for a netbook thought it is not on a moveable bar, i would need a quick doodle showing the external dimensions of a i pad? and how you would like to attach it like the bar lenght and angle and the size of the clamp

It's a bit strange timing this post as I was looking for a laptop cooler stand today and came across the REV360 iPad holder. However, the computer shop I was in (it's a unit in the indoor market in Washington) was selling them for (I think!) £12 which is a big difference to the £29.99 on this site

I have made something using a book holder designed for use in the kitchen, it worked pretty much straight away.

I like that design. Very simple but looks very effective.

However, I did notice that it states "Not compatible with iPad2" (click the Further Information button and it's a footnote under the big "NEW" sign).

The goal posts have moved slightly now - I could do with one that will hold the I/O dock too!

No good for the i/o dock, but I use an iklip (i think) ipad holder which is designed to be mounted on a mic stand, I modified it slightly and very easily, so I could mount it to the front of my ultimax stand. I can take a picture if you like?

Yep, that would be good - cheers Craig.

These were taken with my phone this morning, just showing the iPad holder with a straightened g-clamp attached and one showing it mounted to the deck stand. If you don't have a front bar the holder can be attached to a bar then to an Ultimax casting on the upright.
Sorry if these are too big as I can't resize on the Phone (pictures are hosted in my drop box) if it's a problem I'll re-do them when I get home this evening.

You're right.... they are horrendously large for the forum! (about 4x the size of my screen!( and were taking an age to load, too. Please re-size and re-post later.

Alternatively / in the meantime, people can view via links if they want to:-

(where they automatically appear at a much more manageable size)

Thanks!

If you're using the I/O dock, what about the laptop shelf that ultimax do? I guess it could be cut to size if it's far too big?
