Anyone been there?
I am there tomorrow night for a Christmas Party.
Access from 6.00pm and apparently the party is on the first floor and I've been told that there is a service lift there.
I'm working alongside a live band too.

Any advice on the venue would be good.
Large room? Small room?
If you've been there, what sound kit did you use?

Cheers in advance.

There is a Town Hall in Devizes,
Where the rooms are of different sizes.
There's a lift and a Band,
And a buffet all planned,
And games where all shall have prizes.

Sorry Gary, I've got no idea, but couldn't resist Devizes.
I have a similar problem with Keynsham.

Freaky!!!
You don't realise how close you were with that little Pam Ayres job there mate!

There were many rooms and it was a bit allover the place.
There were games and prizes in the shape of a Casino which was situated on the ground floor (The Band and Disco were on the first floor).
There was a buffet too and that was in another room.
There was also a bar.....in another room.

You'll be able to work out what kind of night I had before you even read the review in Good Gig / Bad Gig.

Anyway, seeing as this thread is Venue Discussion I will list the Pro's and Con's.

Parking outside the venue is a bit dodgy. One way street and hardly any room. I got there early and there happened to be a space free but the idea is to offload the gear inside and then move the van around the corner.

Spoke to the guy who looks after the venue and he said that all entertainment is usually on the first floor. 2 flights of stairs and a short walk gets you into the main room which is quite nice.
There IS a lift. It is NOT a service lift and is supposed to be for wheelchair users. There's a big sign inside that says it is NOT to be used for equipment but the guy in charge said everyone uses it when they come in with their equipment.

That's about it really. No Sound Limiters in the venue and you can use smoke or haze although I wasn't aware of that and didn't take any.

Hope that helps anyone that goes there in the future.

I think I did a record fair there once a long time ago and I feared for you. Because I wasn't 100% sure I didn't post.

Would you go back?

Yes, I think I would actually. Apart from the journey, it was easier than I expected.

If you do go back Gary, an idea for speakers and uplighting in keeping with the location ? ;) :)
