here in Fife, we've got 95mph winds battering us. All the road bridges are shut and there are lots of trees down in the local area.

Walking the dog was pretty scary this morning :eek:

Had planned a shopping trip to Livingston, but cant get out of Fife

3 of the houses nearby have now lost lots of tiles.
We have lost the fence so far.

All the recycling was across the drive this morning. Lovely job picking it all up at 9am this morning...

I thoiught the window at the back was coming in, there was a loud bang, and I can see a ridge tile on the lawn. I'll have a better look when it subsides a tad more.

I live out in the Cambridge Fens / Norfolk Flats and its very very windy here. Sky TV keeps dropping out. Just had horrizontal rain and couldn't see the farmer's field out the front (distance of <8metres) where normally you can! :O

Never seen it like this before. No doubt there are down tree's etc. I'm just glad the recycle bin is full and heavy as its out waiting collection... althought something tells me they won't be coming today!!

its all calm here now. Just back from Morrisons, there's trees down all over the place, a few walls and fenced damaged, and the roof of an office block is very badly damaged.

Paulines just come in and told me there is lots more damage down the woods, im off for a look lol

Went out this morning to find the trampoline on its side, despite being held down by large bags of rock salt. Next door's greenhouse is completely wrecked, shattered glass everywhere.

Just heard part of the roof was blown off the local Clydesale bank too.

A complete brick garden wall went down in the next town earlier today.

back from another walk in the woods, the damage is much more now. guessing about 100 trees down in one area, main pathway through the woods is completely blocked. Its gonna take weeks to sort the mess out

As regards me, had both of my gates ripped off from the frame as a gust caught the pair of them.

I work in the middle of the Civic Centre and hadn't realised it was so bad today. My journey to work consists of a bus to Sunderland Bus Interchange and the Civic is right next to it so I hadn't really noticed the weather on the way to work. So, this thread and the news when I got home came as something of a surprise to me.

Hmm. I was trying to make a call on the ASDA Mobile network (which I believe is piggy-backed to the Vodafone network) this afternoon and it wouldn't connect although I did have a signal. I wonder if the weather was the cause. I had my phone taken to bits and reassembled to try and get it to work!

I work on the railway, has been a horrendous day with trees down every where blocking the line, the train i worked from London this morning had a close encounter with a tree fortunately we only hit the upper branches a freight train going the other direction at the same time got the business end and it took an hour to cut the tree out from under it, major delays throughout the day was glad to get home.

Well I've got my garden shed to re-felt, it's held out for 20 years as it's in a sheltered spot, but that was the final straw it seems.

Also a small patch of harling has come off the front of the house, which must have been weakly bonded. A bit annoyed about that one as we paid £6000 to get that done a few years ago :mad:

But still, them's the breaks :rolleyes:

I've had the broadband constantly going off, phone line now seems to. E not working either. Mobile has a good signal, but no 3g now. The garden fence is on its last legs and the garage roof needs repairing. I had to take the big van out for the day job yesterday (lwb, high roof) and that was not fun at all! Glad I'm not an HGV driver.
My mums in Scotland forthe new year and they drive back tomorrow, so I hope it's calmed down a bit by then.

Well yesterday, I had the quickest journeys to & from my Mum's house ever. The North Circular was the clearest I've seen it in ages. I guess a lot of folks just stayed at home.

The wind hasnt been too bad in this part of Lincolnshire although it was quite rough in the early hours of yesterday morning. It sounded like a load of kids was running up and down the roof and it was whistling against the alarm siren box near my bedroom window which was annoying.

We were lucky as we had a huge tree cut down at the side of our house a few years ago.It would get weekly visits from chaps in white vans offering to "cheaply remove it". We're 100% sure it would have come down on our house.

We were also rather lucky we were not in our backgarden during all this

I rescued mine at 23:45 last night. They have remained inplace since then no doubt due to the fact that I used an IEC mains lead to tie them to the wall :lol:

It certainly wasnt due to the wind subsiding. Went to bed at midnight and at 01:20 was still trying to get to sleep but it was too noisy.

We are currently subject to flood alerts. High tide was at 18:15 and some water came over the river wall at a couple of places in town but not seriously. However, if the wind doesnt let the tide out again and we get another high tide on top of an already full river it could be 1953 all over again.

The main road bridge in town was closed for most of the day due to high winds and it was gridlock city :(
