DJ Booth, looking to upgrade

Hello everyone and Happy New Year

Right, this year i have decided to up my game a little :) and want that to reflect in my setup and look...

I'm looking around for a new DJ Booth setup, so any recommendations or advice is welcomed :)

Idealy something that is lightweight and can be stored easily (I have a Ford Focus Ghia Estate).

I'm also interested in the starcloth to go with it, maybe the black one with a white scrim to go over the top ?

I did see a nice booth setup at the last SEDA show, which is custom made (so i will be looking out for that again at the next show).

Thank you for the info, but i feel the Kam booth is a little 'opposite direction' for what i want to showcase, sorry !!

Ideally like the ones with the serge wool fronts black/white etc with pea-lights and the sloped tops...

Got a good look at the DSB at BPM, but I would like another look before I commit so that would be really useful thanks. I've actually been separately questioning Graham on details over the last couple of weeks, but i need to feel comfortable with how it will look and work with my existing kit.

:) Many thanks mind you i have to say with Advanced Event Designs it's Graham that actually does most of the work as i'm usually here there and everywhere i just plug in the gaps where needed and where i can and tend to take most of the glory at shows and things for it :eek: :D

Yep i think twinkly is still in :D we can also supply the bigger backdrops (3x2m and 6m x 4m) to match too so you can have twinkles behind you to match the twinkles in front of you... Kind of a twinkly DJ sandwich lol (been a long day on the road) :daft:

I think it has it's place, but I wouldnt use it my setup as you have to be bothered with extra lighting (and positioning it correctly, to make it work). It looks like you constantly be kicking the Impossibleds under your feet.

Also depends upon the client base you want - it doesn't scream sophistication in the way a DSB or S&H does so not so much for posh weddings etc....

Still - youngsters may love it??

However, we saw them last Sunday, and they really do look rather cheap and tacky, TBH. It looks like someone's stuck a plastic bag to a metal frame.... well, I say 'looks like', but actually, that's what it is!

The system comprises of 4 rectangular screens fitted with lycra cloths ...but the one they had at Clive's show on Sunday was DEFINITELY plastic!

You are right Angela, the first three pannels were plastic, but the last was lycra, i had a chat with the chap from prolight and he said the they were going to use the plastic as it is wipe clean, but it is quite rigid and creased to easily, so are now going to use the lycra/spandex cloths.

I have to say I quite liked it and thought the build quality was good. The chap said it will be around £139 including the cloths which are removable to wash, its made of ali so is quite light.

Now I really want to get one of the paladin dual booths, but just can't go to around £850, so I might try the above when it comes out.

I know it doesn't change size but you do get the added benefits of being able to add overhead lighting and other accessories and it will pack down small for transport in a car or van and for storage... Plus weight wise there isn't a massive difference in the 2 weights from what we've seen from the info on it.

I looked into all three options, DSB, S&H & the Dual Booth,I think for ME the Dual booth is the one to be honest and a overhead for it is on the cards, but as I say the cost for either of them is out of reach at the mo.

Thanks for the explanation. Looks like the DSB V2 is the way forward. I will be in touch very soon as I need something for wedding seaason kick off 30th March. Just need to get a hellish January out of the way first.

Yeah, but with an led cloth overhead etc, they all end up about that price, and also I need a 4ft not 6 or 2.

Would be interested to see what you have done as alternatives to the standard starcloths. I would like something a bit different but still classy, but I can't really visualise what that actually is yet.
