Is January/Feburary Quiet For You?

Seems to be an annual occurance in my experience...

January/February are super quiet for bookings!

As in many industries, there always seems to be abit of a New Year lull with people capping spending etc...

Any one else rather quiet?

If you'd asked this question before Christmas, my answer would have been that it is pretty dead in my diary for January and February and I would have also said that it is generally the norm'.

However, I have actually managed to fill the next 3 weekends in January and I have 1 Friday free now in February. I offered a slight discount to get the work in. Not much of one to be honest but enough to get the bookings in.

As for enquiries, well...it's bloody mad for them at at the moment.

My week has been filled up with meetings. Have one tonight and two tomorrow.
have a gig Sat so thats good.

Just need a few last mins as that seems to be the norm but at my pricing thats not such an occurrence.
Did get a corporate for end Jan however last week.

Would be more helpful if you said what you were doing etc to help other members who are a lot quieter.

For me it is very quiet. I do have a regular Wednesday night in a Workingmens Club which brings in a little and as mentioned booking fees are the other income stream for the month.

Lots of enquiries and 4 confirmed bookings in the last 2 days. Wedding Fayre on Sunday so a few more from there too.

Feb's better though with 7 Weddings ;)

Busy Busy here as Paul witnessed earlier on!

Enquiries have gone mad, as have last minute bookings. Taken 6 DJ bookings for January already this year, our DJ's are loving it!

We were hoping to get on top of stuff in January but its the 11th now and we still have a huge list of jobs to do :(

All Januarys Fridays Saturdays and Sundays now fully booked.
February and March filling up well too.
And ive incresed my fee too.

Wow that's pretty good going. I remember reading a post about your first wedding being on 7th January - so you are pretty much working for ALL of January. Which is alot more than most of the guys I speak to. Fairplay. I look forward to being the bottom feeder for all these enquiries you'll get that you won't be able to do :p

My next confirmed is 4th February, with a gig pending for 21st January. I write the month off personally (and I'm going away next week) anything that comes in is a bonus.

Yep! Chatting to Adrian yesterday and it seems you're right Mike. Lots of others in the area are more or less writing January off.
It is a bit weird though as I have Friday this week free and then a Hire job on Saturday and a Wedding on Sunday.
Before you know it, we are near the end of January and those weekends are sorted too (on one of the days I have 2 gigs on the same night at the same venue - I knew you wouldn't do it so didn't ask). Another weird thing though, one of those is just an Uplighting job so I am not DJing. I don't get many jobs for just Uplighting either so if I can fill the date DJing somewhere else, even better.

[Edit] - Just to add and before anyone accuses me of winkle waving - January last year was the complete opposite and I think I earnt just about £1000 so you can probably understand that I am a tad happy with how the year has started! :D

Well i hold weekly residency work in local and surrounding pubs/bars and do fortnightly quiz night with rock and roll bingo...

The money is not the best in the world, but it is regular work and from it i get a lot of private bookings, where the weekend is left for the bigger bucks gigs :)

Karaoke nights are a big thing for me at the moment :)

Jan 2 jobs on and one is a Buble tribute, so works for us. Average year

Feb we only have 4 jobs on, but in terms of money its a record Feb for us. Lots of good quality jobs in there.

March is a dog. 1 job in. Very much down on usual of 4 or 5 jobs.

April is not so clever either.

If you asked me before 31st Jan, I would said dead... Between 3 and 5 bookings here and there...

Out 8 times in Jan, possible 9 as just waiting for confirmation.
Feb, 2 at the mo, 3 if lucky.
March, well let's see what happens as just 2 at the moment.

January for me is consisting of Quiz every monday night then 2 Kids Parties and 2 Dance Floor Hires, through choice as I have an event which I will reveal all too after it has happened, which is keeping me very busy and on my toes.

I also have landed another Film Role, and don't know exactly on when filming will start.

Next month I have 1 big booking which really covers me for the month so not to fussed.

As for enquiries..... MANIC!! As for confirmed bookings...... NOT SO MANIC ;)

So time will tell I guess. :)
