VESTAX VCI 300 malfunction help required

Hi my Vestax is not functioning properly on the left channel.

Never been dropped or anything.
the scratch button lights up but it does not scratch, just moves slowly up and down like it would when off.

When cuing it comes out in full volume when the main vol is down. i have started using the crossfader (normally off) which is the only thing that works.

The gain works fine though?

I am sure it is a hardware problem as it would be on both channels??
i have set it to stereo and mono and that make no difference.

edit - apart from not scratching its back to normal now. I did nothing?

I cant think of anything else tbh? i hate using the crossfader as I always forget it.

Any ideas??

I will re-instal Itch and see if it makes a difference and try it on another mac.

After killing my van in a ford (having to buy a new one) and my laptop breaking (I had to buy a new one), and then my wireless mic (have to buy a new one) I am starting to wish I had insurance :D


Pretty sure its something simple. any advice on where to get this looked at then?

ITS started working now - sratch too after an emarasing stutter.

By "Left Channel" do you mean the left deck or the left audio channel of a deck.

A fader giving full output in the down position is usually a sign that it has lost its ground connection either becuase of a broken track in the fader or a dry joint, broken track or cracked PCB.

Given that you are also having problems with the scratch wheel I would suspect a dry joint or broken track either due to poor soldering at assemble time or by physical damage during use.

Whole deck - doing it again.

The volume works fine its just coming straight out regardless whether the cue is on or not?

I think it is a problem with the cue as everything else works fine.

Thank god for the crossfader as that still works.
I would have to do a gig and not mix - god forbid :D
