help on my sound setup

hi guys just got a set of 2 18" bass bins rated @ 300w rms 8 ohms and 2 15" tops @200w rms 8 ohms and a bose pro amp rated at 700w rms a side @ 4 ohms. accepts 8 and bridged etc.
now then ive wired up input straight to bass bin then from that to the top hat and the same obviously on the other channel.
It sounds absolutly awesome and alot better than my old carlsbro actives i used to use.
do you reckon this setup will be ok to run on full power on my amp for long periods of time,i have tried it on full and really cranked up my mixer to half power and the amp decible light dont even come on so aint even near the clip.
what you recon guys coz obviously i dont wanna go deaf testing it lol. just need someone to say setup is fine and ill live with that lol.

I run active, but if it were my system I would be looking to do the following

- Get another amp to run the tops
- Run the signal to an active crossover and then the subs and tops separately from there.

It will improve your sound and not drive the amp(s) near their design limiitations.

Also if the worst happens and one amp fails you can wire as now and carry on.

surely though if i was overdriving the amp now my lights would be near clip ?????? or am i wrong there only ever used actives man

I don't know anything about the amp/speakers but the amp will be working harder if driven at 4 ohms than it would driven at 8 ohms.

You should also have backup anyhow (you may already)

would that be the t.amp 2400 if so ive already seen but a bit dubvious with t.amp!!!!! i have one already and it dont work lol did kam copy them coz ive seen t.amp and kam made a identical a while back or vice versa.

It would. ( He probably will be selling a KAM in the future, also. )The C Mark and the T Amp are near identical cases. Some rate them, some don't.

If there's a socket marked Hi Out/Hi/Out/Tops/HF or similar, there's a crossover.

If it says Link, then there probably isn't. ( Also, it's possible that a previous owner may have removed the crossovers. I'm currently doing that to a pair I have, there's a logical reason for it )

You can't guarantee that. Two pairs of bass bins I have are marked In and Out, and they have a crossover. Best thing to do is read the manual.

If they are not marked In and Out so that you can plug into either then it is more likely not to have a crossover.

come as set of , bass bins are marked in and out .
but cant get hold of a manual as they are audio concepts they dont do downloadable manuals "well i cant find any lol" but but do sound great with them being all eminence

By Audio Concepts I'd guess you mean W-Audio Concepts (which is Warrior and something Peter knows a fair bit about!! ;) ) and there are downloaded tech sheets available for Warrior products. My 15"s are labelled Prolight Concepts E-115s which, I've been led to believe, are the same Warrior products with a different badge. From the website, they all seem to come under the Acme brand anyway (my original lights were all Acme and still going strong!!).

So, to cut a long story short, what are the model numbers of your speakers and I'll have a go at looking up the tech sheets for you (but not promising results!!).

:doh: If that's the case, then I'd expect it to be possible to find manuals, given the model numbers. And Warrior isn't my specialist subject on Mastremind, but yes I've got a Warrior amp and cabs.

sorry not w-audio, it was something to do with class d few years back apparently thats all i know no specs whatsoever think i may go pull one apart lol

very interesting guys i just opened up one of my bass bins and found that yes it has a crossover built in (rather large one) couldnt see any specs on it though,and the speaker is a EMINENCE SIGMA PRO.

mmmmm seems like my 700wrms a side amp will need a partner lol now i know whats in them,sigma pro from what i can find on the net is a 650wrms sub so matched up with 250 tops got some nice power

If you intend to get an active crossover and second amp ( which is fairly much what everyone recommends ) for heavens sake make sure you get a monstrously big amp for the subs. The one you have is ideal for the tops, as it's giving around 450w into 8ohms, I believe.

Any amp delivering 750 to 1000w per side at 8 ohms would suit those subs just fine. Under no circumstances expect one giving 500w at 8ohms to keep up with the tops.

When bi-amped an Alto X23 active crossover is introduced into the chain.
