Ok, well it's not far off a year since I said hi in the newbie section with no gear, no experience and no music.....just an idea of what I wanted to achieve.
Since that time, I've slowly built myself a rig (Cheers Spirits High, Jonathan Ford) got my head round some of the nuances of digital DJ'ing (Thanks Excalibur) and built up my catalogue of music.
I'm pleased to say that on Wednesday night this coming week, I have a meeting with the owner of a well respected East Midlands live music venue concerning the potential for the venue hosting C3R3MONY, my own Indie Rock/Britpop genre night.
Whilst I like to credit myself with some entrepreneurial spirit (I wouldn't have got this far on my own without a little bit), I do not consider myself a buisnessman.
To that end, in a quest not to have my trousers fully removed at this meeting and to equally project a degree of professionalism, any tips on topics to cover and things to watch out for would been keenly received.
To give you a clue, it is a 500 capacity venue with inhouse PA & Lighting. The venue hosts live bands, predominantly tribute acts on Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights and we are discussing one Thursday per month to begin with. I'd rather this didn't turn into a pricing thread as, rightly or wrongly, such a night will take some time to establish and that will require some flexibility from both sides as I see it.
At the back of my mind of course is if the meeting goes well, it could open up the potential for DJ set's before, after and inbetween sets of the bands on the weekend which yours truly could be well placed to do!
Cheers!
