Mines well over-due a change out.

Im ideally looking for something that has
- 3 band EQ per channel
- between 3 or more channels
- Mic input with XLR/Jack combo socket (if not, deffinitly XLR)
- Not a crap make (Gemini etc and I'm not overly keen on Vestax/Citronic)

And if im being fussy a mixer that has a seperate VU for each channel, and then the master VU.

Looking to spend between £150 to £250

Any suggestions on what I should consider, what do you use and why?

Well the Citronic 10:4 mixer has all the things you want!

I use a Denon DN-X400.

19" so it racks easily, only 4U so it doesn't take up much space and separate EQ (3 band) on each channel.

The only thing that I would add is EQ on both mic channels, which the newer version (DN-X500) has got.

I had one of those and didn't like the faders - way too much play for me, and they started going all crackly and noisy after a few months.

It sounded fine though and was very well set out.

For the standard disco / karaoke stuff i use a studiomaster fusion mixer... Can't fault it as is great multipurpose mixer.

Has 3 mic channels (jack and XLR) and 4 additional chanels (although you can plug in 6 as the 4 faders can be switched)

All Has individual 3 band Eq on every channel - and couple of basic effects ideal for karaoke that can be added to each mic channel or all 3 mic channels.

Even has a video switch built in for switching between 2 video sources.

Only has Mater VU meter though. But does also include a booth/zone control as well so you can plug in monitor speakers or have seperate control over a seperate set of speakers from your main output.

Is nearer the top end of your budget though!

Yeah I agree, the current/old mixer was a Citronic, just ideally want to skivvy away from them

Perfect!

I quote "It also runs on 4xAA batteries" - Excellent! So between me and Paul (ThamesValley) we can run a disco in the middle of a field, him with his UPS and me with my "state of the art" 4xAA Battery mixer.

Cheers Daz, a winner every time :teeth: :teeth:

Stanton RM404 - pleased as punch with mine after ages searching and trying out Citronic, Denon etc. Superb quality sound out, neat appearance, good layout, all the things you are after. £270 or close

I seriously like the look/features of the 505. Love the stanton stuff, I just can't justify the price of the 505 :(

The DN-X500 has eq on both mic channels too for a lot less money then the 1500.

And I didn't ever have a Citronic 8:4, and unless I've changed my name to DJ Dave Cougar, you may well have got the wrong man....

Not PCDJ...hate the program. Eithr Tracktor or whatever it is, of Virtual DJ. Seen Doug using tracktor and seems pretty **** easy/what I want, and Virtual DJ...well i know how to use it. Mix Vibes is another option.

I tried Virtual DJ ages ago and thought it was like using a Fisher Price toy. Having said that, I looked at their site the other day and they've got some really decent skins for it now - even a PCDJ skin, which makes no sense to me whatsoever!

I bought a Numark 200FX 5 weeks ago. Feels solid, has 3 band eq per channel, has 4 channels, XLR and phono mic inputs, Alesis effects etc... Great mixer at £170. I guess it's a case of narrowing down the mixers within your budget. That'll be Gemini, Citronix, Numark, Stanton. The think Numark and Stanton definetely fly the flag.

I have the Denon DX-500. Good rugged build quality that you would expect from Denon. The only drawback is that the power switch is on the rear of the unit which makes it near impossible to reach when it's fitted in my flightcase. Apart from that...great little mixer.
